UTM skudai is the main campus. all the undergraduate and postgraduates are conducted in skudai. the diploma schools are still running in KL for the time being. it's being shifted under SPACE and eventually will be shifted to bandar penawar campus in the next few years. UTM KL will only run professional and premiere courses only after that.

Thanks azarimy. This mean as a Master student need to move to Skudai in near future?, is hard for me because im from KL area. Ohh gosh

I will not complain if im a full time student, but as a part time student and work full time in KL i think it is impossible for me to attend class at Skudai every weekend

If not mistaken, master program now is free since UTM is a research uni. I recently chat with a graduate whois waiting for the application, he said no nid pay money...so, why not go for master first instead of jumping straight to phd?
*
haha tongue.gif free, u kidding right, then why UTM bursary bother about my payment recently. im student intake July this year, during the registration day briefing before, they mention about free for PHD, means they will sponsor the Phd student, not Master student. They encourage us as Master student to upgrade to Phd immediately if follow certain requirement. UTM will give allowance every month 2.5K

not as much as people think basically.

lecturers earn between RM3.5k to RM8k basic. but then there's allowances that could bring the RM8k basic to RM11k-12k.

but that's not the biggest source of income. lecturers do research, consultancy and so on. they could easily design a new product that earns them RM200k per year.
*
I dont think lecturer with Masters can earn this much, maybe this is for lecturers with Phd right?

any alumni from Master of Computer Science (Information Security), which one would you recommend in between Information Security and Information Assurance (new course)?

Need to submit the application this week  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

Irzani, im currently part time student at UTM KL taking master comp science (info security), now in final semester.

Info Assurance i dont know about this course, but maybe it is more to info security management. Whereas master comp science (info security) is more to technical.

wah .. u gonna be my future senior.  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

Regarding the Info Assurance, it is a new course. My future research in PhD are towards Information Security Management such as design a new methodology or approach to secure the computer security. To introduce a strategic management approach or flow chart of how to managing the information security in the systematic way or something like that. Does the Information Security courses teach me that? or would you recommend Information Assurance?  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

Another question, I'm weak in Cryptography and binary calculations, is there a lot of mathematical approach involved? Can you share anything about the study environment? The most hardest subjects and the most you like?

I'm also going for a part time as I need to find a job to fund my Master and to pay back PTPTN.. tongue.gif~.

Thank you

1) I think have two subjects related in what u ask. 1st one is Information Security Management subject, cover info sec management in systematic way that relevant standard such as ISO/IEC 27001/NIST and others. 2nd subject is IT Project Management. And the other one also related to management such as Physical & Operational Security subject.

2) There is one subject for Cryptography, but not so much focus on mathematical/binary calculation. The hardest subject i think Cryptography and also Multimedia Security (MatLab programming for Steganography/watermarking). But the most difficult one is Thesis of coz, hehe

3) You can take MyBrain (MyMaster) for part time study, as the Gov sponsored smile.gif

For course Information Assurance, i think u better ask AIS, bcoz this is a new course
