I am on CM7, there is a touchscreen problem when I am charging.

When charging the screen goes haywire.

Hmmm... I wonder if there is something related. My screen problem seemed to coincide with the original charge cable having connection problems. Maybe something loose in the USB jack or near there on the motherboard.

Just speculations, since I am experienced in neither hardware nor rooting. :-(

This seems to be a common problem reported here and other forums. Unfortunately it is hardware. Probably the screen digitizer is faulting, an expensive repair. I have one whole column that does not respond to touch. The ghosting has stopped somehow.

I suspect mine started with USB connector becoming wider and the circuits inside jiggled loose from movement. Good luck.

Maybe helpful tips for some with screen problems:

Whenever possible use voice dictation for messages. Train yourself to speak plain slow international English.

Anything with unusual vocabulary, local names, use slide out keyboard.

Clear old messages and seldom used apps to avoid restarting.

Try your friend's mini USB chargers to see if any connect better than the original, if that is causing problems.

If blind spots. use home screen app like GO that allows different icon sizes, eg, 3 column grid instead of 4.

Use slide out keyboard to select apps in the blind spot.

I'm determined to keep using my Milestone until I see something really better.

I bough a new digitalizer and fixed my touchscreen problem.
Taking the phone apart to fix the digitalizer was kinda hard though.

Where to find one at a decent price? Do you think normal non-Moto repair counters competent to install it?
