guys, when you're covering an event, do you use any diffuser for your flash? or just bounce flash is enough?

zeipher, understanding ur flash. if there is something blocking or diffusion ur flash, it will not go distance. apply some logic here smile.gif

diffuser works best at 3-8 meter distance and when the ceiling is too high(20 meter up). nearer u might get overexpose, too far, the flash cant reach u get underexpose.

covering event, what is the shooting distance? ceiling distance etc.

if u are shooting something u can go up to 2 meter close, use bounce. try not to bounce when ur subject is closer then 2 meter, coz the shadow from the bounce closer then 2 meter length are harsh.

if u are shooting a stage event where u are 10-15 meter away, the best method is still direct flash. at 10 meter, the direct flash will not be as harsh as 3 meter direct flash.

Last event I bounce most of the flash..
But when using prime I set it to the biggest aperture and it'll help with the moderate lighting on stage

Using diffuser soften the light so I rarely use it when I'm more than ~10feet from the subject

haha.not true? u use zoom lens forever will only take shots from ur comfort zone. with the limited focal range u have no choice but too move around and try different angles.

i think got someone posted here b4, zoom lens probably will make u a little bit lazier. just repeating some sifus words><

thanks for the reply smile.gif it'll be an indoor party. well, it'll be my first time covering an event sad.gif icon_question.gif since the organizer don't plan to hire some pro photographers. 3 months time to improve my skills and understand my flash better
