Normally how long the brake pads can be last?
my car just 35k++ mileage but i feel my brake is very poor performance (tak "makan") even my mum notice and complain about it. What should i take attention into this issue? Besides brake pads, what else should i check?

thx for sharing smile.gif
*
drove for 16k++ as of now. brake still works like charm no prob.

did u drive up to genting etc often? maybe that could be the reason also.

yeah the stock audio more than enough to satisfy a normal driver like me, always connected to my usb palmdrive and listen dozen of songs while driving, really pleasant driving experience even stuck in traffic jam thumbup.gif

All the while i am very satisfy with my NHC, the handling, driving comfort, the accessories offered, the outlook, FC, interior...etc.

The only setback that i must admit is the sound insulation for this NHC is pretty poor...if only HM can improved this i am 100% satisfy with my car sad.gif
*
for me i have no issue with sound insulation, i found that it is good enough, even i off the audio i cannot hear much noise outside, except like motor pass by me only.

Added on May 19, 2011, 6:17 pmtoday i went for my 20k service, 3 hrs spent. do the balancing and alignment too and rotate tyres.

prob found out, my rear left hand side rim was bent.

my rear left hand side absorber also gone case (but the SC replace for me automatically without informing me in advance, just let me sign the warranty claim form upon collecting my car.

want to ask, any safety issue on the rim that is bent? can it be fixed? how much does it cost?

or can only replace new one, how much?

thanks.

My black NHC had an accident 2 months back, bang from the back and i hit another front vehicle...now all done and parts changed etc etc...they got the replacement grille, but they sprayed my front grille to black, same as my body color...

Looks weird now, but quite unique...what do you guys think?

And my modulo bodykit, after they repair, they did not put back the rubber...damn! Anyone knows if the rubber can be put back, and how much it costs?
*
what do i think? according to my thinking, ur car resell value much lower now for sure. that's all i can think of haha. tongue.gif

you can hear very clearly about the motorcycle/ car that passby your ride, and your tire loud noise (if you didn't on your radio/ audio), that means the car sound insulation is not really up to the par la, if myvi/viva/saga i can still tolerance, but at least not NHC lor sweat.gif

Apart from that, the car is almost perfect for me, the handling, driving comfort, FC, smooth gear switching...etc smile.gif

maybe i expect too high haha...tongue.gif
*
i think u expect too much. if without gov tax, the car is same price as saga etc only.

and it is the cheapest car among all honda models, u expect it to be perfect, then why ppl need to buy civic, accord etc. sweat.gif

rim bengkok? i faced it for 3 times before.
just go to any tyre shop and burn it back.
less than myr 100 can settle.

replace a new one? it's hard to find exactly one piece of rim only.
easier to just change all four of them.

budget wise - burn it back.
look wise - change to 17 or 18 inch.
*
serious? so i am not the only one. glad to hear that. my car exactly 1 year old now only.
sianz, think one of my rim bent becos i kena a big hole one of the day recently. sad.gif u know la. malaysia road condition.

emm. i am not going for third party rim at outside ah beng shop, i hate non-original stuff. i always stick to original parts. maybe i check with the service centre, how much does it cost to replace the rim. i believe they must have stock to sell for sure. at most need to order only. i like the original rim looks.
alternatively, maybe i will send to honda SC to repair my rim. if the cost is abt the same as new rim. i will opt for new rim instead. but need to leave the rim there for up to 2 week

to me 17 to 18 inch does not look nice, and it hurts FC too. i believe it also incur the risk in the case ur absorber got prob, and the SC may find excuse to reject ur warranty claim. i am not confirm if Honda will deny ur warranty claim if u change the parts. it happened to my friend case his one is P brand car.
but my main qns is that does it cause any safety issue for bent rim? sweat.gif

its not stick, even 's' mode oso will auto drop the gear according to speed.. how bout other car that has paddle shift, is it auto drop gear too..? for cabin noise, i oso felt that it is quite poor, but definitely bttr than proton, even inspira.. got wind whistling sound..  biggrin.gif

@westlife : how much SC quote you for balancing and tyre rotate? last time i ask, they quote me something less than rm50..
*
yeah, even in manual (S) mode, the gear will still drop to 1 when ur car is stopped, there is no such thing that u can stick to a specific gear even with paddle shift.

labour to do wheel alignment = rm36, balancing and tyre rotation = rm32.
so total rm68, i find that the price is cheap, considered it is doing at the SC. tongue.gif

Haha well said , i was about to say that too. I'm not sure whether there's anyone who mentioned this before.
I would like to ask whether anyone of you ( New City owner) experienced some sort of "loose sound under the car" whenever you drive on an uneven road. It sounds like the something is not tightly sealed/screwed...
Plus , the driver seat whenever you go over a bump a little bit faster , as your body losses contact and then when back portion of your body land back on the chair, it feeels like the seat is loose...
*
for me, so far i do not hear any obvious sound when go over uneven road, i just feel the car is more bumpy than my insight when go over the same uneven road with the same speed.

i dun understand why ppl said the sound proof is bad, i think NHC the soundproof is consider not bad already. when my car is on stationery mode (not moving), the sound outside is very minimum, there are quite a few times, i didn't notice that my car is already started becos i do not hear the engine sound outside. only when moving u can hear the tyre sound etc, but to me it is acceptable. smile.gif

Depends on which part is bent.
Usually wheel balance will be first to go out. You can hear some strange sound when the car is moving faster and the steering will shake, depends on front wheel or rear wheel.
If the bent part is near the tyre and it's deep, sometimes air might escape when there is a harsh vibration and resulting a punctured tyre.
Anyway, you should really go and fix the bent rims unless you are way broke this time of the year.
No point keeping that for memory.
*
thanks for the advice. I am actually got no issue spending the money to fix the bent rim. in fact, i am thinking of getting a new rim if the price is close. i am ok with that. want to fix all the flaws also.

Fully agreed~ The most unbearable issue about NHC is the sound insulation. After warranty ends, I would definitely go for sound proof and also change to whole set of quiet tyres instead of using the damn lousy stock Goodyear
*
how come ur stock tyre so lousy one? mine is continental tyre man. rclxms.gif

lolx I wonder what u so proud abt ur Continental tyre. It's just on par quality as lousy as Goodyear. In fact, you paid extra RM500 for these lousy Continental tyre

and I bet u dunno abt this, so FYI, for early batch of NHC, all using Goodyear tyre, but NHC selling price was RM89,980. When newer batch of NHC provided Continental tyre, the price has increased to RM90,480.00
*
i am not proud of it. just it does not give me any prob so far.

the increase is not due to the change of tyre but due to the increase of currency yen that time. i think ur justification is not logical at all.

if u can afford a rm90k car, i believe rm500 increment of the price is not a big concern actually. unless u stretch ur wallet by struggling ur ownself to get this car. wink.gif

yea , totally agree . and mine is also good year , changed 2 tyres within 2 month when i first got the car . and too many complains hence they change to continental . which is much more better than our local 1 . 185/16 for RM200 ~RM250 . I can get a racing tyre with that price . damn .
*
My tyre after 1 year still have the bunga, dun think it is necessary any time soon. Did my 4th service recently. Think at least can last for more than one more year no prob.

all bros here, i got a few questions...
i have a 2008 city vtec, from then till now, always service at honda SC, and if not mistaken, they use mineral engine oil...

now, since warranty over, i am planning to take it outside for service, so basically,

1. what engine oil should i use? continue mineral, or semi syn? i heard ppl say can use semi syn 5w30, but i am not sure.
2. how many liters do i need? 1 bottle 4 liter is enough?
3. for the oil filter, do i ask for honda oil filter? around how much is it?

thank you all so much.
