The Story
I think some familiar faces here might know me looking at my nick in this forum. I started playing WOW during BC time when i was 24 yrs old. I started off at Alliance and my first character was a Human Mage. Then i rerolled a NE Hunter in Frostmourne and had been Pvp-ing for like 1 year after i hit 70. At that time I was a pure noob who dont even know what a "raid" is. I dont know what Kara and ZA is (not gonna elaborate more since i know you wont be interested).

My real journey in WOW started when i decided to try out Horde by creating a new rogue in Barthilas server. Since then I was invited into a guild and i was taught to raid and do pve progression. My history? Not too glorious. Just cleared Kara, Za, Mag`s Lair, Gruul`s Lair, MH and 5/9 Bt on my rogue before WOTLK was launched. Then, I was promoted to an officer rank in that guild during our progression towards WOTLK.

When WOTLK came out i decided to play a pally instead of a rogue cos, you know, not many ppl can stick to one char for too long tongue.gif . My pally healed thru Naxx and Ulduar when we cleared them. and I switched to tanking from TOTC onwards. I remained an officer/raid leader in that guild for almost a year. I enjoyed doing pally tanking that time and to be honest, i got addicted to the game becos pally tanking was quite imba that time, even today. After that I joined a new guild called Conclave when the guild I had been staying in for close to 1.5 years disbanded (GM quitting).

Life in Conclave was good and I got promoted rapidly to be an officer, thn to Guild Master of the guild. Well, maybe i was a bad omen. Conclave disbanded after that cos most officers got too tired of doing raid leading.

When that happened, it did came across my mind that quitting WOW might be the best solution for me but it then i decided to stay on for a few bit cos of my real life frens who are still playing. I decided to reroll a priest (so that my pally could remain in Conclave) and we joined a good guild called Fox River (Barthilas). There I took a short 1 month time to level my priest from lvl 1 - 80 and started hitting 6.1k gs after starting my raid as disc priest with my fellow guildies. Happy times passed real quick. In 2 months time (Mar-May 2010) we cleared ICC 25 (it took quite a bit of time for us to down LK 25 smile.gif ). Fox River is 8/12 HM now and yes they are still doing Hm progression. As for me, I`d already quitted the game last week.

Reasons for quitting
- Game content is too boring. Its all repititive. I still prefer the type of raid contents during BC time.
- Gearing up was too easy now. My priest was able to hit from lvl 1 to a 6.1k gs lvl 80 in exactly 1 month time? Crap.
- This game is for kids now. Not adult gaming anymore. Chk out how many noobs are there in game these days.
- Internet line in Malaysia (or particularly in my area) cant support WOW effects and raid anymore. Trust me it isnt graphical lag. Its the Streamyx line thats not steady.
- Too tired of all the commitments I had to put in for raids that went on for like 2 years.
- Too tired of wipefest and ragequits and DCs

What I`ve earned and learned these 3 years in game and off game?
- Guild management skills [ingame]
- Politics [ingame]
- Golds [ingame]
- Teamwork [ingame]
- Patience [ingame]
- Guildies who`ll forget you after you leave guild [ingame]
- Money - NOTHING [reallife]
- Career still the same [reallife]
- No house [reallife]
- Most of my time spent in front of my pc at home [reallife]
- Less time for family and friends [reallife]
- Unhealthy dietrary and less exercise [reallife]

etc

Well, I`ve made my decision and to be honest, I`m glad that I made it now that my life is back to normal now. I could focus on my work and I could finally spend a lot of time doing things I love to do etc. I do play dota/HON casually sometimes when I`m free. But 1 thing for sure I dont have to stick to my monitor all night for all the wipefests etc. smile.gif

What about you? Players who`d played this game for at least 2 yrs now? Did quitting wow came across your mind b4? Do all my reasons above sounds familiar to you?

Pls dont misunderstand. I`m not trying to boikott any Wow gamers or talk bad about WOW..I still love WOW and this game was the best game i ever played. I`m just trying to enlighten you guys that there are certain things that you need to manage in life so that you dont go overboard, even in WOW. Sorry for the long post lol. Cheers

because as a not so regular player(playing dota, not WoW), i can find the effects of playing every night and not playing at all.

TS already said what i want to said, ntg for me to elaborate. biggrin.gif

yeaps its bad really when u gotta sit down and play this game for 4 hours at least even if you dun want to. Its the only online game that needs commitment i guess? . PPl actually gotta rush like hell aft work at 5.30 just to make sure he can reach home by 7pm for raid...they even can skip dinner in order to fill the 25 man slot for raids etc. What a life, and a life which i dun wanna live in anymore..lol

Seems like working both sides just that for the other work you have to pay for it.
*
haha yeah true tht..its like working OT really...but ur not earning money from it..if ur new to the game, u`ll pay for the fun and enjoyment (its a game afterall) but once u played too much, u`ll start taking it as a burden, in my opinion lah smile.gif

Thats true too, but for SC2 you do not need to organize a time to get togather, nor pay every week for it. Where as a game only last 15 min you can always stop after a game. Where as for WoW you cant stop in the middle of a raid, nor can you go and raid alone.
*
I`d agree with both of u ..yes it really depends on how u manage ur time..but all i could say is..WOW requires a lot of time and commitment as compared to SC 2 or even dota/HON...in my daily life now..i know i only can choose between WOW and other activities...and i`ve decided to quit WOW..24 hours isnt enuf if u wanna enjoy your real/normal life and play WOW together really..

If your saying "You are gonna play back" to me..i cant say NO..cos after all this is still the best MMORPG i`ve ever played.

Most ppl quit cos they are tired physically and mentally and they are tired of the game play. That`s why when a new content came out..they can start fresh and cont playing again.

As for me, I`ve nvr planned on quitting since 3 yrs ago and this time is my first and only time that i quitted. And this time, im pretty sure i quit this game cos i`m bored of the content and also the "game mechanics". That why if u ask me if i`ll play again in future, well maybe yes when Cata is out and they change they way WOW is played.

So for now yeah im pretty certain to tell u tht im quitting for good. smile.gif Prolly i`ll go for Diablo 3 when its our next yr.

Haha I think WoW is much better than ragnarok though...

^^" tbh i quit twice before within a year ... well i still keep coming back because i think i have too much time on my hand...

but it doesnt have to be a negative thing... I play wow as a stress relief thing, raiding and chatting with friend (on ventrilo) actually help me cool down from a long day at school and all the **** im dealing with in my life haha...

yet to say, i still have time for other activity like go yamcha with friends, go excercise daily, learn something new...and still have sufficient time to play WoW and join a progressing raiding guild...

haha so you say gearing is too easy nowadays, haha I like it because it give me more time to do more stuff instead of sitting infront of my computer grinding rep and gold and such...

Skill> Gear imo. Though u still need the basic gear to get thru the newest content.

But my reason to quit before is almost like urs... mostly is becuz of the suckish connection we have in malaysia haha...

Kudos to you dude =) hope you start to make a living and come back to WoW when u have more time to spare.
*
hehe thx Kevin smile.gif.

Its good tht you can treat wow as a stress relief thing etc. Aft all its a game, so good for u. But for me sometimes, this game doesnt act as a stress relief thing for me..it`s burdening me..thats why it made me tired.

OK, call me a no lifer, i had 7 lvl 80s (each diff class) and i`ve basically played all kinds of roles available in game. I`ve played as a top melee dpser (rogue), guild OT and MT (pally), range dpser (warlock) and all kinds of heals (except for shaman)..lol

Other thn tht, i`ve also played as a core raider in guild, as an officer in a reputable guild and also a GM and Raid Leader before.

So yeah, I dunno wat else to play in this game. I cant seem to enjoy the game everytime i turn up for raid and the suckest thing is when you logon during tht night at 8 pm and circle around dalaran thinking wat to do till 12 am...tht killed me..lol

Anyway, this is still a good game. I`m just wondering if u guys ever thought of quitting it cos Blizzard is already earning like 22 billion USD/month in game subscriptions..lol

lol dun worry this game is fun. As long as u dun rush things in game and play the game slowly and enjoy the content. It`s still the best mmo around. smile.gif

Enjoy WOW-ing bro

Good thoughts Andrew. smile.gif

Well to be honest, I did consider joining a casual guild and play this game as a casual player. But on second thought, I cancelled my intention because being a raider for almost 2 years now its not easy to join a casual guild with fresh 80s where i have to start fresh all over again (raiding Naxx etc with them for start). Joining semi pro/ semi hardcore guild would be the only way for me considering that i`ve played and tried all the contents and mechanics that this game has to offer.

If you ask me to join a guild that doesnt raid, I will join but i`ll just end up spending my time wandering around dalaran again wihtout knowing wat else i can do except for raiding. I`ve even pvp`ed and did arenas..and i did almost all the quests from lvl 1-80 for like 7 times? lol

Good for you that you managed to take this game casually and enjoy playing it. This period is over for me i guess, i`ve enjoyed the game enough and played it more than enough. 3 yrs of WOW-ing seems kinda long for me. lol

But no doubt when my frens ask me to go bck and play during Cataclysm, i might play again. Who knows smile.gif

*
Lol i`m not jealous or seeking counselling or watever becos of a game. You nvr play WOW you wont know how tagged up WOW can be. and of cos i dont think you can compare WOW with any other typical games that you play for fun daily. I`m just sharing my experiences here with the rest of you WOW players and hopefully you guys could manage / fix your time while playing this game, just like what me and maybe Zol is doing now.

Actually based on my gaming experience in WOW, I think I could write a complete guide about this game now..lol..

Now tht I quitteed WoW, any nice games to recommend? mmo i mean lol....

WoW still the best Mmo i`ve ever played..too bad i`m sick of this game now. Thanks to all the wipefests and newbies-with-6kgs-but-dunno-wat-does-overaggro-means that joined since WOTLK.

I still miss BC, the best expansion ever. Raiding MH, BT etc with a bunch of pros was darn cool.
