The one you downloaded from navifirm will be you original firmware. you'll need to replace a few files from the CFW into your original firmware folder.
Just make 2 copies. One for original firmware and another one for CFW. in case the CFW acting strange you'll remain yr original firmware to flash into your phone.
As for your files backup, open PC suite > Backup

You're right on the first part, but you'll still need to download the CFW core file from the forum. Which is here.

Then replace it according to what stated on the readme.txt in the package.
