only MS can decide whether it can be used on Windows or not
they don't want to release drivers for PC also no use

wii and xbox never launched in mal. but ps3 manage to launch in malaysia.

so what is d moral of above story? i actually dono. but here is the question i want to ask: does xbox360 game sales, especially 3rd party ones contribute a lot to microsoft's revenue?

In game development, its the otherway around. theres no royalties given by other developers to MS unless MS is the publisher. In Case of EA, MS pay them to give exclusives rights/ bonus features.

For xbl, depends on the team management. Games purchases in xbl are depending on publisher, most of the time, its MS. So some the price u pay are royalties.

in the statement of piracy, why do u think MS comes out with the idea of DLC.

Whoever get the spank before knew Microsoft is very efficient in curbing piracy....by asking you to pay in social cost rather than cash

i am sure there is a formula used by console companies to decide if they want to launch in a particular country. and i am sure piracy abuse is one of the factor. what i am not sure is:
1. how big a factor is piracy.
2. what other factors besides piracy.

wii has the biggest piracy abuse, but they have the biggest worldwide console AND game sales among the 3. u can check the stats if u don't believe me. so perhaps they didn't launch in malaysia has little to do with piracy. it may be that the population is too low to rack up significant volume. there is a theory that they r interested of combating piracy is to lure developers to work on their platform, but once they get them in, the sales of the games don't matter much to nintendo's revenue

just thinking out loud....

The business model that console manufacturers use is basically to get the the installed user base up so that they can get revenue from the games sold. The basically earn a license fee for every game sold/published on the console. They use KPIs such as average number of games bought per user. The more users, the more publishers are attracted to making games on it, the more the games sell.

That's why manufacturers are willing to sell the game consoles at a loss.

Every console out there is effected by piracy to an extent, for the ps3 it's the amount of DLC sharing that goes on.
