btw, lesson learned ... do not go in with cha-pa-lang armour and get a direct hit by Ala's breath even though you have full HP

i second the notion faulting the monkey.

What is the attack that hits you? What is your weapon?
The spiked&puffed roll needs to be blocked or avoided as that attack hurts the most. Try attack from the sides at the whiskers or the tail (there is one part of the tail which green sharpness should not bounce)

The lantern is best attacked in water (weakest to impact), until you do that, the lantern flash attack needs to be blocked.

Like mozzy said, fish it out with frogs(just like plessy) in area 4 fishing spot at the beginning or else he change area
He's not hard at all after you know his attack patterns
Don't rush things, attack it while you can and dodge(or guard) when you know he's bout to attack
You can guard the lantern flash or dodge it with perfect timing(possible even without evasion+2)
Use his weakness element against him!

C'mon, Fatalis is harder than that...
I know you can do it!

P.S:I use Royal Ludroth armor set and Para S A when i first fought him
