Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 provides option to play and convert 2D to 3D. Like what the Samsung 3D LED is doing. The Samsung 3D LED cost about Rm13,000. If we can find a way to use the Cyberlink PowerDVD to convert the 2D material to 3D, we can watch 3D a lot cheaper.

I have a copy of Cyberlink PowerDVD and manage to play back/covert the 2D movies to 3D, I also bought a pair of Samsung 3D active glasses cost about Rm899/-, however, the 3D image doesn't see to come out 3D, look like no convertion at all. (the glasses was tested on Samsung LED 3D tv and it work fine. Can any one help?

you're watching from monitor right? conventional monitors cannot play 3d content that use active glasses. to use active 3d glasses, you need 120hz refresh rate and normal monitor only provide 60hz

hope this helps

I have a Samaung 46" Series 7 LED TV which I bought last year, the 46" Series 7" 3D LED TV is the same spec except it got a 3D emitter and a different remote control. The Pic that I see on my screen after it converted the DVD movies to 3D using Cyberlink PowerDVD is like the picture you see on a Samsung 3D LED TV without wearing 3D active glasses. (which look like double image). The only different is using my Samsung 3D active glasses the picture doesn't come out 3D (remain double image), I believe it is due to the sycronization problem, if not mistaken the active 3D glasses open and shut the left and right glasses electronically to sycronised with the 3D TV via the emitter on the TV.
I got Cyberlink PowerDVD to covert the source from 2D to 3D , I also got the glasses, My problem is how to sycronize the image from my Samsung 46" LED with my Samsung 3D active glasses?

Sell off my 2D Tv and buy a new 3D TV? Another Rm13,000? who is willing to pay about 10K for a second hand TV? It's easier to say than done, will keep trying until I run off option.

Your TV and your Shutter glasses must synchronise at the same refresh rate and also the same left/right timing. Also the refresh rate must be minimum 120 Hz (min 60Hz for each eye) for flicker free enjoyment. So make sure your TV can support the same high refresh rates as your Shutter Glasses.

Don't know about Samsung shutter glasses, but normally shutter glasses need to be activated at the correct refresh rate by some sort of controller. Maybe your Samsung shutter glasses need to be controlled wirelessly by the Samsung 3D TV only.

Without the 3D TV how is your Glasses to know what refresh rate to operate at unless it got some sort of built-in controller to operate at different refresh rates of your choosing.

Just my guess.

I think that the Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 is meant for you to have an option of using your (HT)PC (provided your PC has a BD reader and compatible HDMI ports) to play movies instead of buying a 3D BD player... You still need to buy a 3D LED TV, thus spending that RM13,000.00 sweat.gif

laugh.gif You think that simple? It's not same. Totally wrong doh.gif But first thing is do you have a 120hz capable display tv/lcd monitor? If not, don't bother to continue on the next step on setting up 3D wink.gif

I think its mandatory. If you have 3D graphic card and 3D glass, it useless if our TV don't support 3D

Hi guys,
there some method how u can enjoy 3D movie.

If u doesn't have 3D capable display ,
u can enjoy 3d using anaglyph method, with red/cyan or green magenta passive glasses.
try to search at youtube, u can get anaglyph glasses for rm2, test it and see if u interested.

power DVD10 capable to play 3d bluray,
it also can convert 2d to 3d, but not perfect.
set the power dvd video out as anaglyph if u doesn't have 3d capable display.
if you have 3d display, then set it according to your 3d display
to get better image, you have to calibrate color hue and saturation, and enjoy it in dark room.

For samsung 3D LCD
samsung 3d tv capable to convert 2d to 3d,
the input source is 2d, while conversion done internally and your active glasses sync perfectly with the display,
to view a 3d source, you required HDMI 1.4,
3d bluray player have this feature,
but there still no PC graphic card support HDMI 1.4,

samsung maybe equipped some driver/software which you can connect your pc using DVI/HDMI that doesn't support 3d signal. hmm.gif

About your problem

u have normal LCD TV, support 120 Hz, you have a shutter glasses.
and 3D tv has an IR emmiter, which this one use to talk with your active glasses wheater to block left eye or right eye,
if u doesnt have this ir emmiter, u will see the image same as u not using 3d glasses,

if u want to test it, put the normal lcd tv beside 3d lcd tv,
both view same source with vertical sync on, play some 3d video,
if i correct, u should 3d scene on both LCD TV.

using nvidia 3d vision kit is the right one, it come with ir emmiter. you dont have any problem with that.

but you already bought the glasses
you can try search in internet how to control/sync an active glasses.

if u using wired glasses, there are 3 point only, ground, left eye off and right eye off.
if u applied 3v between ground and left eye off, the left eye glass will become dark.

to get it sync, you required analog VGA connection,
one of the pin is carrying a vertical sync signal (refresh rate),
used this signal, feed it to amplifier and connect to wired 3d glasses.
be careful not swap left and right eye.

if u using wireless glasses, u need and ir emmiter, connect the ir emmiter to the amplifier.

but that just the basic how it work, very complicated to built one.

active glasses (shutter glasses) give better experience and image quality than passive glasses (anaglyph or polarized).

that all i know about 3d icon_rolleyes.gif

Thank you very much on all the comments, really learn a lot from that, you are right I am short of the ir emmiter, trying to source it from the internet, managed to get one company selling it, will make a long distance call tomorrow and find our whether it work on my Samsung Active glasses or not, if it doesn't work I will go for nvidia 3d vision kit, I did'nt regret that I bought the Samsung 3D Active glasses, worst come to worst either sell it at a discount or buy the 3D LED TV, (installment for another year lah). This experiment that I try on my Samsung Series 7, if it work, will benifit quite a lot of ppl who have bought the LED TV last year. Any way if it works, I will invite you to watch it.

3D BD Software + Nvidia 3D kit (graphic card, emitter and active glasses) + compatible 120Hz PC monitor = 3D

BD 3D player + 3D HDTV = 3D

3D BD Software + Compatible 3D Graphic card + 3D HDTV = 3D

Linking the two hardware, the cable must be HDMI.
