Was the CERN's original objective is to deliberately create black holes?

If that's the case, they're testing and playing with fire.

It was a case of Einstein vs Hawking's theory.....

50 / 50 chance of wiping out life in this solar system.

So you science based freaks debate now who is right, Einstein or Hawkings ?

think logically for a second will ya ?
if they deliberately create a black hole it sure will consume them as well
got a bunch of spare time and no place else to kill it izzit ?
and it's been confirmed that the experiment raises no such complication

i thought that LHC able to create any significantly sustainable black holes was debunked ages ago

plus he's a biochemist
doubt his opinions on this project

This guy is a real-life Ozymandias

From here (emphasis are mine)

"As a visiting professor he’s taught at several universities in Canada, the U.S. and Denmark. What’s remarkable is each appointment was for a different discipline: Visiting Professor of Mathematics, of Nonlinear Studies, of Chemical Engineering, of Theoretical Physics, and of Complexity Research. Currently teaching Chaos Theory and Brain Theory at the University of Tübingen, he also collaborates with ATOMOSYD, a French research group studying Topological Analysis and Modeling of Dynamical Systems."

So I think his words carry some weight.

That part of CERN delibrately creating black holes is complete bunk, though.

There will be many reasons humanity will die-off, a black hole won't be one of them.

he even filed a lawsuit against LHC <------ as if he knew better than other scientists and thought others haven't considered the consequence of the project before putting it into testing ?

hundred of the of the world top scientist from all over the world have work on this project and got funding to perform the most expensive experiment ever, some how they all plan to kill themself with black hole?? rclxub.gif

I suppose he was doing it out of principle (or at least, he thinks he is). That article I linked had this snippet:

"In physics you’ve got to be a physicist, especially a pre-eminent one, if you want to challenge CERN, which of course is loaded with them, including Nobel Laureates. It’s not just snobbery, but it’s more or less the club rules today. If they had been applied to Albert Einstein when he was drudging as a clerk at the Swiss Patent Office, he would have dwelt in obscurity. Actually as it happens, Einstein’s logic informs much of Rössler’s thinking on black holes."

Then later on, this bring up this issue again. Feels like Dr. Otto is using this as an argument to prove his point against 7000+ of the best and brightests physicists.

the different is Einstein presented an well supported theory that put him in the club of eminent physicist, this guy did not, of course there are time where the entire scientific establishment is wrong but a outsider was right like Alfred Wegener's idea of continental drift, but though Wegener got the right idea he dont have the theory to back it up, only after his death the development of plate tectonics theory prove his idea to be correct. he need to present proof if he want people to take him seriously.

the LHC will be shutdown in 2012 to upgrade and restart at 2013 with double the current energy.

while super large hadron collider have planned for 2019 and the very large hadron collider are also on the drawing board, those that fear LHC will destroy the world must be crapping their pant now.

I'm shocked that some of you actually care. Look, if the world ends, great. No more of the daily stupidities we have to face.

If it doesn't, it's a status quo.
