1)rooting is like gaining admin access

2)With root, you can install CWM and have custom ROM/kernels and certain application do need root access

3) / 4 ) I cant really give you an exact answer because I'm not streak owner and do not have any experience in rooting/flashing the device.

take a look at my friend's sgs recently..his UI's so interesting compared to mine. he got spinning & rotating icon everytime he sweep the screen..is that a rooted sgs?

Not really, He just install a very cool launcher

hi guys. im interested to buy this phone for my wife bday. would like to get opinion from u guys whether worth to buy or not. now new one selling for 899 only. hows the performance? got lag or not? its only for basic usage - FB,simple games like angry bird, camera.

i am using those basic app like you mentioned.. it serve me well..but i am using cooked rom which is much smoother compare to stock rom.. camera quality i think is acceptable and don expect too much on it.. with tat price, it quite worth it.. the big screen is really an advantage when surfing the web, play game, watch movie even type msg..
