Seriously, you can probably fund a pretty decent Sigma 50mm f1.4 or the recently launched 85mm F1.4 (if the 50mm is any indication of its quality, the 85 probably wont dissapoint), without having to "trade in" the 70-200

The 70-200 still has its uses....this is as good as it gets for a medium telephoto lens.

if you already have an eye for tat lens & got budget, y bother beginner or advance, just buy n play, if not suit u anymore, can always sell it off...lens won't depreciate so much.

dear goldfries, i haven't gotten my canon 550 but planning to get it next weekend lar.
However, just my 2 cents. the problem is not starting out with 18-55 first or not.
i know it's cheaper and to learn with 18-55 but why i kept thinking about whether to get 18-200 first
is because when u get it with kit lens, it's relatively cheapker than buying it alone lor.
eg: 550 + 18-135 = RM3.5 / 500 + 18-200 = RM3.8 / 550 + 18-55 = 2.7
with body RM2.4k + 18-200 = around RM4.4k

so it basically comes back to the question of whether 'dai' or not 'dai'.
wanna be wise consumer mar.. budget only save around RM4k so wanna get the best deal lor.

just wanna ask you a question here, i heard that 18-135 and 18-200 actually the
zooming ain't that big a difference based on calculation.
so i'd rather get a kit II for 550d than kit II for 500 hor?

viking's combo is a sweet one but whether or not it suits you is another thing.

see, why spend RM 1.3k for 17-50 f2.8 if it's the range you don't like? you could use the money for other things. same rule applies to the 55-250 and 50mm f1.8

it's a lovely combo really BUT would you be channeling the funds there?

i don't know you. neither do i know your future. so best is you just stick to the basic stuff first then only upgrade when you really know what you like or venture into.

his combo too expensive so i taking the 18-135 first.
but was thinking about the - Canon EF 50mm f1.8 - RM300.. <-- this lens good portrait n good bokeh huh?
