Fun game, but it has issues - READ before you purchase!
I bought this game when it was on sale in the Xbox Live Arcade for 50% off. Being a very old school magic player, I definitely enjoyed my time. The puzzles were a lot of fun and playing in a four person FFA is always a good time. However, it's got some issues and I doubt the PC release is going to take care of them. Correct me if I'm wrong, because I seriously hope I am.

If you're interested in buying this you should be aware that the game automatically taps your mana. This is a HUGE pain in the pass. You may not feel that this is a big deal, but when you're playing a multi-color deck it's imperative you be able to choose what lands to tap. Why you can't do this is beyond me.

Another thing that ticked me off about this game was the lack of customization. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all about the pre-constructed decks which technically make everyone even, but you can't add/remove mana in any of the decks. That's right, while you win cards and add them to such-and-such deck, you'll never be able to remove the initial cards in your library, only the ones you've obtained through victory. It's incredibly annoying too because if you add too many creatures/spells then you don't have an adequate amount of mana, crippling you badly.

Two-headed giant is awesome. Seriously, sitting down and playing with a buddy against two opponents is great, but it had to be local which was a bummer. What was more upsetting was the absence of 2v2 online matches. The only way you can play with friends is if you're playing against them, which is kinda disappointing. Oh, and if someone is playing with you during a Two-Headed Giant game, they CAN'T use any of the special decks you unlock. That's right, even if you have all the cards they can only choose from the green and red starting decks.

I know that initially people would drop-out of Live matches when defeat was inevitable, allowing them to evade a "1" in their loss column. There was a patch that fixed this and hopefully the PC version won't encounter this problem.

The game is ambitious and I think it's a solid attempt at creating a great Magic game, but these issues make it really hard to love. Not being able to alter the basic lands in your deck really can screw you up. Why you can't reduce your Hill Giant count from 3 to 2 is beyond me. You'll get a decent amount of playing time from it, but after you experience these issues you'll wish it was more polished.
