If you ever used a virtualization software, it's the same (something like VMware)

- Get Virtual PC from Microsoft website (it's free)

- Install it

- Create a new virtual image

- Install Win98 on this virtual image. You will need a valid Win98 key but these are not that hard to find.
You most probably have an old one lying around from an old pc or you can find some for cheap
You can actually install any OS you want (even a Linux or whatever) on this. I choose Win98 since it's still better than Win95, I had a license and it has basically the same compatibility with games than Win95)

- That's it, then you can run the virtual image of Win98 from a window (like another software or game) from your Win7.

- Then you only have to install the games inside that image (you can easily exchange files between the Win98 and your normal OS)

It's easy, it run perfectly, it's free and no need to go through crazy steps to make old games work on Win7 or Vista 
I tried it once for my old Chaos Gate and I then used it for few more games, never had one having issue.

It's more than just the OS. Its the video cards as well. Well maybe its worth a try.

I do not totally rules out to see a little piece of China and Korea actually since they did took a little part into Japan Feudal history (basically they tried to invade each other). Depends which exact time they choose for their settings and if they want to make a game only on Japan.

But yar, no TW: 3 Kingdoms for sure, it's not the same time at all 

unit size its going to be like 1.2k, 1 battle would end up to 80k unit cap total. its more like epic messy war.

3 Kingdoms would have the battle for red cliff.

Way less known by EU or US markets is my guess really, Asian may know about China wars history but others have no much idea about it, Chinese names are much harder to remember than Japanese ones too for foreigners.

In addition to the fact that they already did a Shogun before and lots of people were asking for a sequel, I am not surprised they took Shogun 2 as their next games.

Kinda forgotten how was Shogun 1 Total War like.

I hope this comes out soon enough.
