Di622 for Nikon with firmware upgrade works with cheap triggers i.e. phottix tetra & etc.
Di622 for Canon doesn't work with cheap triggers.

@melatonin I use the Aster and no complaints about it. I guess one key difference would be the Aster is less than an inch high, whereas the Tetra is 2inches+?

@Orca: As far as I know, none (cos you're on canon). Best you can do is optical trigger built-in on the Di622, but that only works if your main flash is on TTL (M mode flash doesn't trigger it).

@yankiat google 'eos flash bible' ... it's a bit outdated but it gives a lot of good technical info on how canon flashes work.

^
1) as batteries get weaker the flash recharge takes longer.
2) probably not. rechargeables don't lose that much charge over just one week. possibly your flash is firing harder than others. quick simplified example, if you are using f/5.6 lens and someone else is using f/2.8, then every time your flash fires it has to fire 4 times harder (or is it 3 times? haha) cos of the 2-stop difference.
