Finding the WD is hard enough, so i'll take B.yond PVR when have enough money. smile.gif

It's not that hard. If you're in KL, go to Lowyat. There's one big computer shop that's quite new, I do not remember the name. It's bigger that All IT. I think maybe 2nd or 3rd floor. They have rows of WD My Passport AV. You will notice the sticker on the box, saying Byond compatible.

The backlog for the PVR must not be too much now. Called CS on Sunday, installer called on Thursday, installed on Saturday.

Pretty fast if u ask me.

I'm based in Penang.

The signal strength with the dual LNB is definitely lower. Not sure if it will cause me to be more prone to rain fade, of course the installer said no. Will have to see. I believe I used to get something like 200. Now on one tuner its 179 and the other lower I cannot remember.

Did the installer change the dish and realign? Or he just changed the LNB?

How do we use the slow motion playback and also the 15 minutes skip? I can't seem to find the way to do it.

the 3D channel goes on air at 2.20am on Monday, 12 July 2010 and goes offline after the match. do note that you would need a 3D TV + B.yond + Sports Pack to enjoy this channel

Yup, goes online at 2.20am and offline after the match, confirmed by Astro's fb. I'll be keeping my sports pack even after the WC. The sports pack is the real reason for my Astro, LIVE HD. If not for sports , I won't bother about Astro at all. Other HD contents can be easily downloadable.

For those planning to record the 3D feed, bad news.
QUOTE
9. Can I record the match in 3D using my Astro B.yond PVR?
• No, because Astro does not have the recording rights for this match in 3D.
• If you try to record the match, there will be a message informing you that this match is not available for recording
• However, the World Cup HD Channels 825, 826, 827, 828 and 829 are still recordable.

Can anyone who use PVR function by plugin the WD AV HDD comment on the performance of the recording function..is it stable? Planning to get mine soon.

I never had Astro Max before..how does the rewind function actually work? Let say i just turn on TV, a program has already started for 30min, Can i just straight away rewind it until the beginning of the program?

Or the rewind only work for when i watching a program. For example, i just missed what the narrator said, then i just rewind it, to hear it again.
*
Had a few problems with the rewind live tv function, when it got stuck a few times. But after rebooting the box and unplugging/replugging the HDD, it works fine now. So far it's stable. The recording function works like a charm. I just schedule all the recordings before going to work or going to sleep. When I'm back after work all the programs are ready, and I can skip all the commercials. tongue.gif

For the rewind live tv, the buffer only starts when u tune to that channel. So no, you cannot rewind till the beginning when you have just tuned in.

Some of you just like to talk kok and sing song. Cancel the HD service by all means, nobody forced you to subscribe in the first place. I do not know what all the fuss is in the first place. Sure, paying an extra RM20/month might seem a little steep for some of you especially if you are currently only subscribing to Astro's basic package. When Astro first started, many were complaining that they were not given a choice over which channels they want. So Astro came out with the many packages currently which you can upgrade and downgrade anytime albeit with some penalty if you downgrade. Sure, we are not able to pick channels individually. Yeah it sucks but fact is, all of you do have a choice. Fact is, pay TV is here to stay and by definition, you will have to pay for extra services. Why did you buy a HDTV in the first place if you are not prepared to embrace HD? I'm prepared to pay whatever I can to enhance my viewing experience which was the reason for me to get a HDTV in the first place. Maybe I can afford it and some of you can't. Why blame Astro? It's like blaming someone or something when a guy is driving a BMW and you're not.

AFAIK, with the current package of Dynasty and mini package of Movie, Sports, Learning & Variety, one can continue enjoying all the HD channels on offer now. It's worth paying an extra RM20 just to enjoy football matches and other sports in HD. Whether that fee will increase in the future or not is irrelevant. Premium products require premium prices. Be prepared to pay for it or well...there's the basic package.

Fox International Channels is going all out in promoting their HD channels. Saw the ad just now on Star World. Star World HD, Fox HD, FX HD, Star Movies HD, etc. Astro should have taken Star World HD instead of FX HD for their variety package.

I saw a very disturbing promo just now, on AXN HD. The new season of Barclays Premier League will be on ASSP, ASSP2 and ASSP HD.

Ah, confirmed then. The new BPL season will be an in house production. Jason's not bad, but John Dykes FTW! So slim chance Astro will get the dedicated BPL channel anchored by Dykes then...

will that mean we get HD content from ESPN now? coz i remembered back in May that a company was installing the final few HD broadcasting sets at the ESPNSTAR HQ and studios in Singapore..the new HD content was due to launch in August..hope that means we can watch Sportscenter or EPL content shows in HD too..that is if we will get EPL in ESPN.. tongue.gif

Speaking of which..as I have said earlier, there was no mention of EPL in the ESPN and Star Sports promo for August except for Comminty Shield match..but yesterday when I was eating at Kayu Nasi Kandar, they were showing ESPN and during the ad, the ESPN promo for August was shown..the promo not only had EPL but also Champions League qualifiers..have they changed the promo or is the feed at the mamak different to that with the normal astro subscriber? coz i noticed they were using the astro that had the little white square at the bottom right of the screen..i remembered that someone said that box is only for commercial subscribers like McD for example like during World Cup hmm.gif

I can confirm that promo. I saw it just now on ESPN.
