this is how the recording works... it records the raw encrypted stream... not the decrypted. So even if you are able to extract the file out to ure pc, its pointless, its encrypted and until you decrypt it, the file is not viewable.

When you play the video, it will decrypt it using some codes from the smart card. Hence when you unsubscribe a package (lets say sports), you can't view any sports recording anymore, because the smart card is updated with keys not including those channels you have unsubscribed (ok im not too sure how here works... but your smart card would not be able to decrypt sports recording anymore after you have unsubscribe sports). Hence, there won't be keys to decrypt the recorded sports clips.

The only time you can break this encryption is if you are able to break the NDS encryption directly. With this said, it is as good as breaking the encryption of the whole system astro is currently using. If you can break this encryption, you don't need PVR anymore. Get a DVB-S2 dual tuner, and you can do whatever crap with it, record endlessly and examine the feeds.  Heck you can even record all channels put under the same frequency your tuner is tuning to. So lets say ESPN HD, HBO HD, HISTORY HD, NGC HD and ASSP HD all are under 12.345GHz freq, you are recording all of the content in that frequency. If you have 2 tuners, and each freq has 5 hd channels, at the end of the day, you can record 10 hd channels simultaneously lol.

even HD channel pon got 5 only + 3 coming... I hate to say this but... I dont care about 3D as it is a waste of time and look ridiculous(wearing the glasses) and geeky too...

Astro should have at least 20 HD channels before thinking going into 3D...

Depend on your luck, you can try. If you're lucky, you'll get within 10 days 
They are very busy now, even reconnecting service take longer than 3 days, they promise within 3 hours 
Their IVR also gone haywire, key in correct input but said wrong input, select right option but going to another menu... 

I think it was a normal system security upgrade

My 21' tele 4:3 res , no sound output while viewing the HD channels. Do i need to switch to LCD w HDMI output?

Yep, it was 5.1 turned on, turned off, and i got the odo back.

Why most of the SD channels' PQ are getting worse???!!!!!
I'm using CRT composite to test both HD & SD, and I can clearly see the gap.
Given that composite is delivering up to 480i, does that mean the SD quality is not even up to par?

Are you sure? Is everybody facing the problem.

I too applied for the PVR on 2nd June and have since called them 3 times but I have yet to receive any confirmation call.  Same old answer i.e Too many applications. It may have to do with the fact that I am in Kluang, Johor.

Has anyone outside the Klang valley received their PVRs yet?

I called them again on 12Jun and this time they tell me that it would be installed on 14th or 15th Jun. I dont know whether she told me this to pacify me. Its a very frustrating experience as different CS will tell me different things. 

U can get a more certain date if your decoder already assigned to a Installer. My PVR was assigned to an Installer on last Wednesday and the Installer collected it and installed on Thursday.

Try to ask Astro for Installer phone number if possible.

Good then! Try to call him for an appointment. If he is free tomorrow then he can come and install it ASAP.

hey the person from astro installed my decoder and set the resolution to 1080i. The ratio 16:9 is locked. So i need change the ratio everytime i change channel. Anyone know the security code for the decoder?
