Hi, how did you open the SG account? Maybe I read wrong, but I thought I need to go to (MY) branch, but the CS there said not possible to open SG account, only MY account denominated in SGD.

I see a bit later someone mentioned doing it online, any link please?

Thanks. Your initial deposit was from Transferwise, no problem ah? In the IBKR thread I was told need to do initial transfer from CIMB MY (own account)....

Wonder how DJFoo000 managed to do via TransferWise then?

Ramjade really very experienced to be able to tell =). I just saw that CIMBClicks showing my SG account already, so just did the same thing (SGD1 transfer) successfully. Now will get my friend to put in SGD1k.

all those examples show the linking of the account to CIMB MY, not opening of CimbClicks.sg

Okay saw 10+pages back someone who posted a list of his steps. Looks like I'm still waiting for step 5... time to contact their CS and see if anything missing from my app.

I received their call on Monday, actually.... which is why I am wondering why have not received the code.

Okay that took a while (probably there was an issue with my scanned IC as they requested it twice), but I just got the code today. Took over a week for everything to settle, but just glad I can login to cimbclicks.com.sg now!

So can confirm that sending SGD1 from MY account and the rest from another source (in my case, my friend's UOB account in SG) works fine. Probably Instarem/Transferwise/BigPay directly also would work.

Do note that the customer service agent who called me initially insisted that need to transfer 1k SGD "for verification purposes" then I just told her "I don't want to lose so much on exchange rate, when I have already transferred the money using this other method". Then she said "well to verify we need at least a transaction from your own account, so maybe you can transfer 1 dollar?" to which I replied "I already did" and she checked and went "oh yeah, this should be fine".

Suspect from Maybank SG should be similar as well. I do not have Maybank SG (not interested in paying them the monthly fee).

I do not have Maybank SG. Just read back through this thread, got long discussion on the fee etc.

You're trying to do Foreign Transfer, you should just do 'Transfer Money' (first option under 'Pay and Transfer'.

For selecting the 'To' account, under 'your own accounts' you should see your FastSaver account (once it's linked). There you can transfer 1SGD.

You must also do a transfer from CIMB MY. This has been mentioned before everytime we talk about Transferwise.

They approve the linkage doesn't mean SG account is approved. That is a separate process and phone call.

You and your child will need to evaluate objectively his quality. If he can compete then why not (but don't go compete if you're not of that level la).

Honestly 'middle middle' institutes in SG aren't any better than the private universities we have locally (disclaimer, I'm a lecturer at one of them). NTU/NUS are top notch and world class though, those 2 no fight.

One thing to consider is that higher education is changing a lot now as well. What we consider elite may no longer be elite in 5-15 years time. Keep an open mind.

Don't be so nice. You shouldn't have mindset that you have to convince them to 'let' you. The account should be made available for the public, tell them if they don't let you complain to BNM. Ask for the manager to come out and take down his/her name.

Only one branch, I think I received an email a while back saying they were closing one of them.

I found your summary last page insightful, but I don't think I've seen you post about your options strategy anywhere so far? Could you point me to anywhere here in LYN where you talk about your strategy?
