Anyone knows specifically what sort of link there is between CIMB MY and CIMB SG?
Specifically if CIMB MY freezes account (due to account holder has passed away) does the same automatically happen at SG side? |

QUOTE(k_f_kho @ Dec 2 2021, 08:55 AM) Hi, dear all, i m newbie in investment line, I'd like to know why most of u recommend CIMB singapore account rather than Maybank Singapore account? Maybank must leave 500 SGD (IIRC) inside to avoid being charged monthly fee in SGD. CIMB don't need.Maybank Singapore account come with debit ATM card, is it? More convenient if v can withdraw money from singapore ATM, is it? Just want to find out more info (pro and cons) of CIMB and Maybank singapore account. Thanks If you travel often enough to SG to want to withdraw money from singapore ATM, then you should have access to other banks and not only limited to maybank and cimb (which are discussed here because you can open their accounts without being physically present). k_f_kho liked this post

QUOTE(Koranshita @ Dec 12 2021, 10:48 PM) Hey guys. After using Singapore cimb for awhile (receive). Tried to transfer out this time. Kena ask for security devices? Anyone got their device? Need to apply? If not, can't transfer out to others? Only using within cimb? Didn't you set up the CIMB SG app? That should give the code right? Please advise |

QUOTE(TOS @ Jan 24 2022, 09:07 PM) Just curious. Since Wise offers "virtual" bank accounts with multiple currencies, why the hassle of having to open a foreign currency account with CIMB SG? The Wise 'virtual' bank account is not under your name. This may cause problems with your intended recipient. Not to mention a foreigner opening a foreign currency account in a foreign country adds to multiple layers of complexity. I think majority here are opening this account to be able to transfer to IBKR. If you do so from CIMB SG account with your name, no hassle as IB sees your name as the one doing transfer. If you do so from Wise or whatever fintech, then the name they see doesn't match at all, so you may get flagged for suspicious transaction/money laundering/scam or whatever it is. |
