Actually I made the same mistake - I wrote Malaysia doesn't issue TIN haha
Few days later, their customer service called me to confirm my intention and asked for my income tax number, I guess they're well aware of noob Malaysians like us filling this up wrongly all the time lol. They kindly waited for 1-2 minutes for me to look up the document immediately and helped me amended my application right there. Took a few more days after that for the CIMB SG Clicks PIN to come and now it's up and running!

So, yes I think you can wait for the verification call, good luck!

I knew i wasn't the only one who will make this mistake haha. tongue.gif

I did send their customer service an email yesterday but if they will call me regarding it, then it will be easier.

Thank you for letting me know.

Good to know! Guess they've encountered this enough laugh.gif

I still don't understand why banks (not just Singapore, Hong Kong as well) don't just add some explanation on "TIN".

A simply one liner that says "TIN is typically your income tax file/registration number blah blah" would have helped to eliminate confusions.

Cause only US uses TIN. And this crappy put TIN thing came from US and then everyone thinks it's a good idea to track people's money. Hence continuation of the word TIN.

I meant the name TIN came from US system.
It's called Taxpayer Identification Number.

I just got the call from CIMB SG, i told them i need the ASEAN account for buying stocks and he said stock investment, i said yes.

I also told the guy to update the TIN thing and gave him my tax no, he said ok. It will be sent for management approval and might take more than 2-3 days it seems because there are many applications tongue.gif

The SGD1000 transfer, can i wait until the account is approved to open (means i receive the email) or must send it before hand?

Edited:
- Just noticed someone managed to get the login/approval without depositing the SGD1k.

I-I mean... I actually looked up to understand what's TIN when I was filling in forms
And I found
https://ringgitplus.com/en/blog/personal-fi...nuary-2021.html
https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/...w-does-it-work/

...And... I totally misunderstood that as "oh so we're getting a TIN at 2021" (not knowing that LHDN income tax number is our TIN lol) sweat.gif

Maybe our government needs to standardise the terms used too?

But true also, if they're spending so much human resource to explain to every silly Malaysian what TIN is, 1 additional FAQ at the bank website would've saved them so much time and money lol.

The moment I know the account number, I made my transfer via TW and it arrived (before I was given CIMB SG Clicks access lol). I think you can send it anytime before 30 days elapse.

CIMB:
1. Applied using online form for CIMB FastSaver-i
2. Submitted form with uploaded IC (front + back) image and utility bill PDF
3. Got account number at the end of application and welcome email
4. Transferred via FAST the initial amount from Maybank SG (31 July 2018)
5. Got a call from CIMB SG, apparently my IC uploads weren't captured - had to attach and reply on top of welcome email (1 Aug 2018)
6. Got email acknowledging my attachments and SMS later in the day informing me that account has been activated (2 Aug 2018)
Update: After activation, you should expect to get code for cimbclicks First Time Login via SMS (together with welcome SMS), and security token via mail 1-2 weeks later

I believe the email is triggered to send right before your deposit that's why, but to confirm, you can blast them a call or email

Don't need to wait for email. You can fund in SGD$1k the moment you get your account number.

But the most important part of the entire process? It's your e-KYC verification.
Make sure to link your Singapore account in your Malaysia CIMB Clicks - once linkage is done, you will see your Singapore account appearing under "My Accounts".

That's when you can initiate another self-verification e-KYC transfer (minimum 1 SGD). Go to Transfer Money (LOCAL) and you'll be able to select your Singapore account as recipient. Towards the end, it should say something like "ASEAN Transfer, 0 Fees".

Thank you so much! Just applied for my account linkage to be done and transferred SGD1k through transferwise for account opening.
Hopefully can get my account up and running by this week notworthy.gif
Final step after accounts has been linked would be for e-KYC before I can get 0 Fees ASEAN Transfer right?
