If bitcoins work, why bother carrying cash. Charges only
QUOTE
Withdrawals
Withdrawals charge a flat 2SGD or 6MYR fee per transaction.

Buying & Selling Bitcoin
We charge a 0.9% fee for buying and selling bitcoin.

However, transferring bitcoin also takes a small miner's fee of around 0.0001BTC, which is around 0.10SGD or 0.30MYR.

Going to test this out with SGD100. thumbup.gif

Okay so this bitcoin thingie need not be physical.

But it is stable enough ? Does it fluctuate a few % within the day ?
*
Er, bitcoin transaction takes few minutes. I have tested previously transfer bitcoin to bitcoin. I think within 30 minutes can settle.

It depends on the USD. If USD tank, your bitcoin maybe worth a lot all of a sudden.

We were talking about how AIYH lost SGD30 via TT when he TT down SGD560 alone. So I recommend few options
(i) transfer from same bank (in this case Maybank MY to Maybank SG. This should only cost RM10.60 + SGD10 -> provided that there's no agent fees.)
(ii) transfer from other banks (in this case any banks to Cimb SG as there's no incoming fees. for Cimb SG Charges should be RM10.60 + SGD20 (if there are agent fees) )
(iii) transfer using same bank (in this case Cimb MY to Cimb SG. Charges should be only RM10.60 provided that there are no agent fees)
(iv) transfer using money changer (get cheaper rates to agent fees) but not sure safe or not.
(v) transfer using bitcoins (to overcome all fees)

All of them are not tested. Will test them out one by one and see once I get my Maybank SG account.

You incur 0.9% to buy bitcoin using MYR and then 0.9% again to sell using MYR + SGD2 to withdraw...cheap meh? Also considered the buy/sell forex rate?

I transfer CIMB to DBS only kena $10 charge, less than 0.1% charge..  rolleyes.gif
*
Er how about bank rate? IF bitcoin can offer cheaper rate (almost same to money changer rate), wouldn't that be better option? hmm.gif
Btw, can we use money changer to actually send money to SG or it's not advisable?

Have you checked the rate for the bitcoin transfer... difference between RM and SGD..

Money changer can arrange to bank in the SGD in your account, but do you trust the money changer? No proof if the money is 'lost'.  laugh.gif

Not all money changer do it tho...
*
Haven't but seeing that bicoin is under utilise, the company will need to make sure it's "cheap" to attract more people.
Losing money via money changer is not really the main concern.
Why: Indon, bangla, myanmar all use money changer to send money back. Never seen them enter malaysian banks to transfer money back. Use big compnies like Merchant Trade, RIA, should be OK thumbsup.gif

More worried about kena black listed for money laundering by SG side. Don't know if use money changer can kena that or not. hmm.gif

Just now say already mah..

CIMB MY -> DBS SG

or

BCA ID -> DBS SG

BCA ID have better exchange rate compared to CIMB MY.. close to money changer rates..

Both banks if you TT higher amount, can get better rates..  rclxms.gif

Aha. Thanks for the news. First time hear cimb can give better rates. Planning to use uob as they have the cheapest rate (compare everyday for 1 month plus ) plus better rates above rm5k (they told me).

Specifically opened uob for that purpose.

Wonder if cimb can beat uob in terms of rates. hmm.gif

QUOTE(kart @ Mar 15 2017, 11:34 PM)
For the application of Maybank KE Trade Account (http://www.maybank-ke.com.sg/open-an-accou...-listing/stocks):

1. Maybank KE Trade Account Application Form (http://www.maybank-ke.com.sg/media/1453572...cation-form.pdf)
For this, I should choose 'Yes', right? There should not be any fee on this financial advisory, right?

In my opinion, it should not have any effect on us, since we Malaysians are Overseas investors.
2. CDP Securities Account Opening Form (http://www.maybank-ke.com.sg/media/1453552...rm-dec-2016.pdf)

I was asked to fill up this form, even though I already have a CDP account. The thing is that the direct crediting service is linked to my DBS saving account, since I purchased Singapore Saving Bonds before this.

Can I state my DBS account number in this form, although my Maybank KE Trade Prefunded Account will be linked to my Maybank iSavvy saving account?

Thank you for the information.  thumbup.gif
*
Hope I can help. Will ask the one servicing me this trip. But maybe gark can help?

2. One CDP account can be linked with many securities. So actually you don't need to open many CDP account. But the choice is yours whether you want to have 2 CDP accounts or not tongue.gif

May anyone mind to share that could I still walk in to any Maybank MY to open and Maybank SG account?and what was the requirement like?and the charges of transfer would like below?

Will there be any problem transferring money from my own account from SG to MY maybank ?

MY acc to SG acc = (MY) RM10.60 + (SG) $10
SG acc to MY acc = (SG) $15 MY no charges for incoming TT.
*
I will help you.
1. Not all Maybanks can do this. You need to find the selected branches. Where to find? It's in the iSavvy forms which you can download from the internet. Keep in mind there's branch for normal people and Priority banking branch. Go to the correct branch.

2. Requirements? It's listed in the pdf form. You cannot transfer straight away. You will need to get a bank draft in SGD under your name from Maybank MY. Fill up the form, drop by at the selected branch, tell them you want to open iSavvy account and they will do the rest. According to Maybank MY page, opening now need SGD5k but last I heard from Maybank SG, min is still SGD500. Don't forget your FACTA forms + income tax proof. Where to get the FACTA forms? You need to email Maybank SG for the forms.

3. Of course can. Unless you are related to xdb or you are dealing in drugs/weapons/human trafficking whistling.gif Keep in mind every time you transfer back and forth you will lose money. If done frequently, better your money stay in Malaysia. So think and plan carefully before you decide to move money over there icon_rolleyes.gif

4. After sending over, wait one month, call them up and ask status of application. There will be no SMS/email/calls saying that your application is approved. You need to manually find out yourself.

Btw, all these info are available in this thread. Just browse all the previous post. doh.gif

For sure, one CDP account is enough for me. They asked me to fill up the CDP Securities Account Opening Form, if there is any change in my particular.
When I opened my CDP account last year, I was not required to fill in my income tax number. That is why I may have to fill up the CDP Securities Account Opening Form, just to inform CDP about my income tax number.  doh.gif
If I am not mistaken, we can nominate only one Singapore bank, for the direct crediting service. I selected DBS before, and I do not want to change that.
Since I plan to open a Maybank KE Trade Prefunded Account, CDP account and direct crediting service are not relevant to this trading account. The only purpose is for Maybank KE to verify my particulars with the help of CDP, so that I do not need to engage Commissioners for Oaths to certify my documents.

kart here you go. Thanks for the info. Well what is in CDP stays in CDP. sad.gif transferring out is waste of money. Btw, did you select yes for financial advisory as mentioned in the form/we are not eligible?
