Hey guys,need advice
I have two PS3 Slim 120gb that is bought from Sony Malaysia and my personal gameshop which is different but they both have the same tendency to not play some Blue ray discs.
The original ones run just fine but the ahem ones, well I cant seem to finish the movies on it,it always get to hang around for a while till up to 12-15 minutes before seizing up (black screen,no pictures)
but the ps3 is working and the top menu can be accessed, when i use the SELECT to see if theres any stream of data it shows the ps3 is skipping the parts up to the next playable one.
I tried playing the discs on a Sony blueray player and it ran fine! this is my dilemma here, can anyone enlighten me?
p/s 1 of my ps3 has its firmware up to the latest,3.30 and another is on 3.15
Added on May 30, 2010, 1:06 pmmore info,my big assed Samsung DLP can only play up to 1080i,and also it has issues with the HDMI cable (as in when i plug the hdmi,i can see the ps3 interface but when it enters movie mode it wrote Mode not Supported on the screen even if i scaled down the display to 720p it'd show the same shit)
So im using Component cables instead and scaled it to 720p/1080i. can component cables be the culprit?
Added on May 30, 2010, 1:22 pmsorry mod if im on the wrong thread, please move mine to a suitable thread

let me get this straight, you are complaining because your PS3 wont play pirated disc? its like a robber complaining to Karam Singh Walia why the police is hot on his tail after a robbery

actually no. it depends on the quality of the media. if the media is scratched to hell, but the thing is original, still it causes stress to the lens. the general idea is, original titles usually have good quality media behind them.

I am fully aware that it might jeopardise the life of the player. What I do of it however,is my own business What i am trying to find out here,is why does my brand new ps3 isnt able to play the pirated media, but a normal BD player can.So if you want to help me,lets try and discuss why is it so. The disc is brand new and only some of the pirated ones arent working, thus confusing me even more.

Want a solution? Buy original Blu-ray la, problem solve. Better than risking a PS3 over a few pirated BDs.

hahah no lah i wasnt really serious.just a bit pissed it cant play Braveheart.
guarayakha - any one can tell me that. tell me, your ps2,assuming you had one, dont you use pirated cd's considering we're in bolehland?
and as snipersnake mentioned earlier, which is fact that BD discs pirated or not wont harm the lens unless it is of low quality (scratched)
my point here is,how come my Sony Blueray player can play the discs well without any problem and my PS3 cant?
to all,i humbly asked for your good understanding of the matter and stop telling me what I allready know, which is Original > Pirated.
help me fix this okay, sorry im a bit worked up i got to make this run for my dad he brought one to his office
Added on May 30, 2010, 11:44 pmjust read the fineprint.anyone who can actually help me please pm me instead, maybe we can meet up lunch is on me.thank you
