The way i got switch to 218.111 was by asking for a higher cap.
My SNR was rather unstable, fluctuating from 15db to 30dB, so no 5M cap, but was given 218.111 instead.

Btw, anyone knows what the markings on the cabinets means? I've been observing for a bit, and the cabinets, the huge ones that come with a roof, for my area of Alor Setar (AS) has:

ASF
ASS
AS V
AS R

thats utorrent doing its own throttling. To turn that off, you have to turn UTP off. I turned mine off, no hit on the download speed. Since, I'm using private trackers anyways.

set bt.transp disposition value to 5 to turn it off.

Anyone can give comment about this?
i apply 4Mbps, my house, old house more than 20yrs. down/up stream 10dB/15dB.
download normally 200kbps. my IP is 218.x.x.x
i go TMpoint they say support 4Mbps, i call they say distance very good. support 4Mbps.
TM ppl come say my house not support, too far from the port.

but opposite my house, New house. my fren gt 4Mbps with down/up stream 32dB/20dB. download reach 400kbps. IP is 115.x.x.x

is thr the line problem? the place i connect my phone line to.
else why opposite my house can.. huh

Make a SKMM complaint. Thats what I did. 13dB becomes 30dB after they rewire some of the poles.

sigh...
i registered cool unipaack just because i want the 4mb for rm88...

i think my fren is in the same case like you...he registered for a new phone line....because of that he got 4mb

i started using streamyx back in 2005....he just start using last year....maybe that why i'm not connected to new exchange port..

hopefully by the time i finish my contract...there is new UNIFI in my area

Or you could ask TM point to lodge a complain for you to move your phone line, or make a SKMM complaint.

I got mine moved from 5km to 3++ km after a TM point complaint, which apparently wasn't enough, and SKMM complaint helped out.
In my case, I had a 2Mbps line at the same house, so it was ridiculous for the 2nd new line to be 5km away, given that 2Mbps line needs the line distance to be less than 3Km

TM '100' is stupid.

Called them to report a fault, they told me all 4Mbps issue have to be transferred to ATS, which is offline after 12am. Have to call back tomorrow morning.

Even the ATS is a tad... sweat.gif sweat.gif right now

I called just now to request for 5Mbps cap, quoting the MCMC directive of 2007 that says 90% of the speed, since it seems they don't accept my argument about higher cap means able to reach full speed 4Mbps.
The guy says he needs to investigate the directive with his supervisor. He even gave me his email so that I can ask him on updates.

Hello people, change topic a bit yeah, from downstream port speed to upstream port speed...

I just wanna ask, has anyone ever requested for a higher capping of upstream port rate, say from the default 512kbps to 640kbps?

Reason I am asking is that with 512kbps upstream, the max data rate is around 0.42mbps only, at best effort, there is no way to reach the claimed "512kbps best effort" advertised in the 2/4mbps packages.

Of course I think P2P torrent downloads will benefit more from a higher upstream data rate, I believe with a higher upstream rate, it can support more connections.

Most upstream SNR are low to begin with. Wouldn't it make the upstream sync unstable at higher speed?
Other than better QoS control with a higher upload, an unstable up stream is not something to be desired

Just a note for 4 Mbps our ip range has been differentiate by special routing from normal Streamyx packages .

Stoopid routing for 218.111.

I can never access Smallnetbuilder
Ping plotter will reach the datacenter but cannot reach the website

No problems for 175.145, or my Uni internet. Works on 218.111 with proxy, but slow like tortoise
