There will significantly be more noise when it is on the Fast path mode compared to Interleave mode. Most copper lines are not good enough to handle Fast path for 4mbps in my opinion.

Have any of you gotten TM to replace your copper wire due to it being too old and 2/4mbps will not run well on it? If so, how much did it cost?

Either your account is capped wrongly or your copper line is in bad shape. When the technician came over, did he show you the speed that you were able to get with your 4mbps connection?
