Hi all,

I am currently using Streamyx RM88 (1M) package and all my lines plus value added services which I rarely utilized cost me around RM130 per month.
I am thinking to "start over" and cancel all value added services and migrate to the RM140 (4M) package.

Just read through a few pages here and knowing that not all users (or their line) are capable for 4Mbps?
So, here's what I get from my Linksys router:

Can you experts help me verify if I am capable for 4Mbps service?

Thank you in advanced... notworthy.gif

Upgraded mine from 1mbps to 4mbps on last Tuesday, the lady at the counter told me that it would takes about 1 week to get upgraded and for the whole week I won't be any internet at all. Shocking! but still said yes tongue.gif

2 days later the technician came and then opened the port. Asked me to monitor the router and let him know when the port showed as 4096.

I forgot to tell him that the port was configured to 4096 already so a day later (today) I told him and he told me that the line will be activated and also will try to set the cap to 5120 instead because I did request for it smile.gif

So now, still waiting for my line to be fully activated so I could experience the 4mbps. Hopefully it will be activated today (In kedah, gov work on Sunday tongue.gif)

Hi cheekeez,

Please allow me to ask a few questions as I also interested in upgrading to 4MB package.

If the "port" was not 4096, can they just change or upgrade the port to support 4MB?
My router stated 1536, and I heard line attenuation to high will make 4MB package impossible.
My current Downstream Line Attenuation is 54 db, and my DSL Modulation Mode is G.dmt but not ADLS2+, by the way.

How and where did you request to cap your speed at 5120?

Thanks! smile.gif

The tech told me he need to test the line first if it supported 4mbps. If not then he will not upgrade my line.
Not sure about attenuation. Better to ask someone pro tongue.gif
If your line supported 4mbps, the tech will come and change your modulation to ADSL2+ as that is needed for 4mbps.

I asked my tech to try increase the cap smile.gif

Hi nyunyu, thanks for the information... biggrin.gif
Look like I need to take a day off and make an appointment with the TM tech guy then let him come to my house to test the line?
I would be much easier if they can test my line from the riser as I'm staying in a condo and nobody at home during office hours... sad.gif

I called 100 not long ago and they cannot give me the answer, I have to go to TM Point to request for a test if my line is supported.

Thank you again nyunyu~ rclxms.gif

Hi all,

I walked into TM Point this morning to request for upgrading to 4Mbps package (currently using 1Mbps).
The TM guy told me technician will contact me to test my line within 5 days
Surprisingly, came home from work tonight and I immediately noticed they changed my port.
Then 8:08pm, I received the SMS from technician to confirm will come visit me tomorrow morning at 9:45am.
At least I am surprised by their quick respond, kudos to TM for this time... rclxms.gif

So the if the Before and After reading for my line:

With the above numbers (which are confusing to me), can anyone tell me if my line get high chance to pass the test and eligible for 4Mbps?

Before this, I always getting IP starts from 115, but now I get 175 all the time.
The problem is, I find the respond time of my connection becoming very slow.
Maybe I should say, the PING time is longer... cry.gif
I am wondering if upgrading to 4Mbps will make myself "dive" into this slow respond connection all the time? sad.gif

Please help... notworthy.gif

Hi SnowFLak3s, please don't mind I intercept this... blush.gif

My installer did everything for me yesterday morning and he told me I should get my 4Mbps speed within 24 hours.
But until now, it is still 1.xMbps, so I just SMS my installer moments ago. laugh.gif

Mode:  G.DMT
Type:  Fast
Line Coding:  Trellis On

                          Downstream  Upstream
SNR Margin (dB):        29.0    25.0
Attenuation (dB):        52.0  26.5
Output Power (dBm  ):  12.2  18.4
Attainable Rate (Kbps):  7392  1196
Rate (Kbps):                  2048  512

Just registered to upgrade to 4mbps at TM Point yesterday, they said I will be contacted by installer soon. I'm so worried about my downstream attenuation >_<. My connection here is always fast and stable (downloads & gaming) , maybe only one DC in half a year. Any comments?

My 1 Mbps account can usually reach 200 KB/s.

Be confident! smile.gif
If you read my earlier post, you should see my line was as bad as yours... sad.gif
But after request for 4Mbps upgrade, they changed my port or something, and my installer told me my line is very good. rclxms.gif
So, don't worry too much (or too early)! icon_rolleyes.gif

While doing speed test, I can get a short burst of around 3.8Mbps download speed, then it gradually slows down as shown on the following screen capture:

Does that mean I got the so called 4Mbps already? ohmy.gif

Here's my final result: shakehead.gif

My installer said 24 hours to get the right speed, some forumers here said 48 hours, anyway, I will give them 48 hours before calling 100.

EDIT: Got the promised speed this morning... rclxms.gif

Told ya it will usually takes a few days to obtain the real results however the speed for downloading will gradually slows down to lesser than 1Mbps sometimes or i should say MOST of the time. They are too good at throttling the speed but speedtest will always shows a good speed.
*
Hi unicode, you are right, I just tried TM Speedometer and it is slower than SpeedTest.net
What do you mean about speed slowing down issue?
Do you mean it will slowing down per file / per download or you mean the speed will be slowing down day by day? blink.gif

QUOTE(SnowFLak3s @ Apr 16 2011, 11:34 AM)
but not 4 me. seems like i the only who have prob here. call technician no answer, call 100 make report, replace new technician.. still no reply  cry.gif
*
So sorry to heard that, SnowFLak3s, I think what you can do now is to keep calling 100 to bother them. sad.gif

The speed will frequently slowing down per download or per file from time to time. Its very very weird because they seems to doing it purposely to make extra space for others user.

OIC, thanks! I understand what you mean now. smile.gif

Streamyx @4Mbps - 1.2TB a month

If it is real, then 1.2TB is definitely enough for me.
I'm occasionally a little BitTorrent, but not much... biggrin.gif

Read again, that's not the quota, thats the "data" (*cough* bullshit *cough*) that TM came out with (on the monthly basis). The quota is not yet set and you'll definitely piss your pants when they do.
*
Opps! Haha... thanks for your explain and sorry for my careless reading.... doh.gif blush.gif

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ Apr 16 2011, 10:32 PM)
Yes... That's not a quota...
It actually an amount of data that the HEAVIEST USER OF STREAMYX has been consumed for a period of one month!  rclxub.gif

Like what you unicode said, "they seems to doing it purposely to make extra space for others user".
there will be no monthly quota, but TM will imposed a heavy throttle for those heavy user... And like Prasys said, It's like a speed limit at the highway...
*
If they are "not going to be monthly quota based", I really don't know how TM will judge one as a heavy user? sad.gif
Maybe based on speed? Like, average speed per month? hmm.gif

*************************************************************************

I read from TM BB Deal homepage stated: Upon Broadband activation, customer has to bring along Multimedia Confirmation Slip for the collection of their Cordless Phone at any TMpoint.
Can anyone tell me where can I get the "Multimedia Confirmation Slip"?
My installer only left the Work Order and Service Acceptance Form for me.
I want to collect my Cordless Phone... sweat.gif
