yeah same quote when im complained for my previous xps. Twice repair and the third times they give me this reason. Is it just an excuse or wat shakehead.gif

Well I guess this is typical Malaysian technical answer try to get this overseas see if they get sued or not for defaming their own Company. If I were to get this answer I would demand the guy to give me a written letter bout this and I will submit it to Dell USA. brows.gif I complain bout overheating on my XPS and earlier one of those technical support people say it's like that then when I demand they give me a written answer and to provide full details bout it he straight pass me to his supervisor to answer me. End up they had to send technician to come and change my heat sink + fan and apply thermal paste. yawn.gif But temps still didn't reduce so their answer is since they did what they could they can only replace the whole mobo if got fault, since now just overheat they can't do much edi. rclxub.gif

Thank for your moral support guys
I know that I will not give up easily on this matter
and I don blame on the service operator either ...they only done their job and follow the company rules.
and order from their supervisor..as i've been in their shoe before.
And since we know that this matter is under warranty
i hope this matter can be setttle peacefully
i'll try to make another call on this matter

Actually it's really typical Malaysian help support attitude, they are not as well trained as overseas or sometimes we get other country help support to assist us. If 1st one can't help then try second one, then again and again. Sure one will help u out. I got an old XPS which still got warranty, waiting for it to die and claim warranty again. brows.gif

you need to change the mobo, which will cost around 70% of the laptop price + upgrade prices for the processor. The Dell person who handled my case advised against it since you'll be better off buying a new one.

I am however was offered discounts if i want to do that, since my M11X had been problematic. They say they can takeaway my current M11X and sell me a new M11X with the new proc for a nice price. I'm gonna wait for the support person to get back to me on that matter.
*
rclxms.gif Better insist on at least 80-90% discount since ur like trading in ur old laptop. Some even get 100% refund from their original price and use the amount to purchase a new laptop. Don't let those support talk u into paying more than what ur suppose to. If ur laptop is less than 1 month then u must insist on 100% refund. If more than 6 months then it will depend on their rate of tear and wear percentage. Anyway no matter how, u still got the right to insist on a full refund as the laptop is giving u problems and not coz u wanna change to a different laptop. Make your point clear and they will try to sort you out. Again don't let those so called "smart" help support people talk u into paying more than what ur suppose to.

Instead of 8gb ram they should put better GPU like gtx260m. then it will be perfect tongue.gif haha
*
Actually they should up the gpu to 4xx series, 460 ? 470 ? But mostly if got new refresh could be 450 series. But it's cool as Malaysia is not too far behind with the Alienware specs. M11X with I series UL processors.

Receive sms from dell and they gonna deliver the orion bag to me tomorrow. smile.gif

tongue.gif I got mine this noon, quite fast their delivery. How much did up pay for urs ? I didn't manage to try fitting it to my M15x as I didn't bring it to work today just only when I arrive home I only manage to test it. Fits perfectly, I kinda wonder how they manage to put in a M15x and M17x is it by using sleeve ? Now I dare to bring out the M15x coz the previous bag I use for the G73JH is not big enough for the M15x. rclxub.gif

from the outlook, Asus's 5870 seems to be more stable compare to others....
*
The outlook I am not sure but vbios wise Asus haven't issue a new version yet. Sager, Msi already got fix for the power saving mode instead of locking the memory to 1000 and the gpu goin down to only 500. Some have tried manually editing their vbios with rbedit and manage to get ati overdrive and most important is less gsob or bsod or any od. Some report the memory voltage and gpu voltage is too low while others mention it's a memory batch problem. The HD 5780M is actually similiar to the previous desktop 5770 and 5870 series even the problems from desktop applies to the mobile. Reports mention it's a batch problem while others mention it's a vbios. My G73JH-A2 had no problem with the stock drivers but once I upgrade to the 10.5 random gsod occurs. It seems like if I just boot up the laptop and run games it will lock up but if I slowly surf web, let the laptop warm up then run games the problem won't occur. rclxub.gif

Rumours is the gpu needs to warm up b4 goin into high performance mode. shocking.gif

'PROBLEM' OF DELL'S ATi HD 5870

someone (in other forum and here also like Putochip123) said that Dell's HD5870 is not same and less performance than other HD5870 out there.

after some digging, i found out that is due to default undervolted setting that by factory.
but thanks God those claims is justified perfectly by 5150Joker from NBR.
so for whoever own HD5870 single or CrossFire, do keep update about next Catalyst to maximized your GPU performance! icon_idea.gif

Bro, there is another issue when using newer 10.5 or latest beta drivers, the performance is higher but the famous gsod, bsod, will happen as some mention it's related to ram chips. Certain ram when runnin at higher clock rate and higher voltage will result in blanking. The whole system is fine but just the gpu is in idle. I encounter this on my G73 as I can see the performance did increase from stock drivers, but intermitten blanking is very annoying. stock clock for the Asus G73 5870m is GPU 700 Memory 1000. But some members in NBR manage to fix this by running out of stock clocks, like goin for GPU 710 and memory 1020. I do believe the prob is with the memory chips as my gpu manage to go all the way to 820 while the memory is max at 1120. setting gpu to 800 and memory to 1100 gives very stable and solid performance. I really don't get it why stocks clock will have gsod. It could be the voltage for stocks is lower while overclocking it makes the bios supply more volts. rclxub.gif But using bios editor to check it didn't show any increase when usin other clocks.

Anyway those who are using 5870 or 5850 series just try to hold on, I am sure ATI or the manufacturer will release new vbios soon to fix the probs. The point is to wait for the fix which not all can stand it. sweat.gif

Phew. Err... so far just tried METRO 2033 in DX11 Mode which added much more details to texture and facial expressions. My other games like BFBC2 and BioShock 2 I don't see DX 11 Options so I just max out the current settings and AA.
Thank god I haven't gotten any problems with the stock card. Only had an occurence when I OC'ed the card a bit higher than I should have but that was all. I will monitor this as I am using the 10.5 Catalyst drivers. I might revert back to 10.3 thou....
Nice. Finally a 5870 CF Configuration to compare with. The score is almost similar to Doc's vantage and he's running on the QUadCore system. There's lotsa potential to boost up your SCORE and your CPU score could be better even at stock.  thumbup.gif But this is awesome enuff specs to satisfy us without even moving to the GTX 480M smile.gif  rclxm9.gif  flex.gif  brows.gif

10.5 gives best performance but I think 10.1 or 10.3 is the most stable while some mention 10.4 is better. Try to monitor ur gpu and memory temps mine I think memory chips have sum bug, needs more voltage. sweat.gif
