Bought the Desire this afternoon. Add me to the list. Still very blur about Android.....Any one knows how to import contacts from a Nokia phone?

Any app that allows you to sync Outlook tasks? HTC sync only supports contacts + calendar sync

Anyone here tried out SWYPE? I installed it but cannot get it to work....i.e. when trying to select input method only choices are Thai and Chinese.

So far 16GB MicroSDHC available only in class 2 in Malaysia. Dunno if other places have - confirmed class 6 available - Amazon US selling....other places too but very expensive.

It sounds fine to me. The only thing I dislike is the speakerphone which is "tinny" sounding, same when playing back songs etc. A lot softer compared to my Nokia 5800.

I also bought the 8GB Class 6 micro SD from Sri Comp (RM75) - its Transcend not Sandisk. Speed is good when transferring directly from card to PC or through phone as an external storage device to PC.

I think you did not push in the headphone plug into the jack fully. I tested it with many types of standard headphones and it works perfectly.

You must first make your Desire discoverable (make sure tick in checkbox is green) when pairing. The device you're pairing with will search also for the Desire to make the connection.

Mine is Skool matte SP and is the same effect as yours. Am afraid that's the drawback of matte SPs....

The apps that Malaysia can access are free apps only. You would use market enabler if you need/want to see/buy all apps i.e. free + paid apps, but to do that you first have to root your phone. Your choice.

Me too.....I'm left with very little space for apps already....go Froyo!

I've encountered something strange and serious. Photos that I took with the phone mysteriously disappeared. I Googled and it seems very similar to the problem with the EVO 4G noted here http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/05/29/is...b-microsd-card/
Now trying to remove and reinsert the SD Card.
No luck....photos and videos all gone......damn.

Apparently Android has serious issues with SD Card corruption.

Managed to recover photos but lost 1 video used this excellent recovery tool called PhotoRec which is free from http://www.cgsecurity.org/

Bought it on the 2nd day after the Maxis launching - 28th May.....this stuff happens at random to Android users....and there does not seem to be a clear and consistent error that one can pinpoint the cause. It could be that the MicroSD card is at fault but seems that Google has acknowledged that it could be an OS issue.

In my case it was photos and videos, specifically those taken by the phone itself and not the ones transferred to the SD from other sources. Other stuff were ok.

Yes. It's now a public beta, register at SWYPE's website and you may download it for use with your Desire when you get it.

1.47 is not the latest beta. pinch zoom problem is resolved in the latest version of the beta. Go to SWYPE's website and register officially for the beta to get the latest version. Uninstall your current version first before installing the new one. Good luck. Oh by the way, I'm not using the standard Desire browser, I use Dolphn HD.

Yes of course it will expire one day (most Betas do). SWYPE will be an app in the market, whether we need to pay for it or not we just have to wait and see.

Maybe we got defective cards? Buy from Sri Comp izzit?
