Good that you feel so.. I'm glad I'm not the only "uncle" around here. Your life is at stake here. Think of it the other way, since its your FRIEND why not angkat him a bit? He just bought his new car let him lansi a bit lor.. When you've just got your Elegance, you'd want someone to say your car is nice and all that right? As to your question about performance, Persona will lose on pick up as its weak with its low end but at top end, the campro will really pull your butt off. Vios handling - i think this is no contest la, to put it short and simple - it sucks :-)

(THIS IS AN UPDATED ON THE CAR PERFORMANCE TEST BETWEEN VIOS AND PERSONA ELEGANCE)

after all the arguing with my friend who has the best performance car, today we have the result:

first we have the acceleration test.
no doubt that persona has a weak power below 3k rpm. the new vios is no where a head of persona when we started from knot. we when neck to neck until persona reached 3k, the power kicks in, and from there on the persona is leading vios with a few hundred cm distance difference. and all the way we go...

second, top speed...
with just leading vios a bit, both of our car continue on reaching our max speed. we when on and on until our speed reaches 175km/h, persona started to pick up, leading the vios cm by cm... when the persona reaches 190km/h, the poor vios is clearly at the back of the persona.

my friend had a wet hand when he came down from his vios, and swear that he will not do top speed on that car again. he claim that it is not stable and felt very light on the car driving at that high speed.

Persona is not that bad at all... affordable, good performance car... nothing more to complain...

my question:
did the 32 bit ECU helped improve the persona's performance?
or the vios driver is lousy driver?

this question will remain un-answer, coz the vios driver had swear not to test car again happy.gif

Oic... Now I get ur joke... Haha...
Actually, what they say is right. Vios is quite small when two ppl with a normal Asian man body size sitting side by side in the front sit. Our shoulder is quite near to each other. But our persona still have some shoulder distance...

bullcrap la VS. They don't work as widely said. It just adds to the coolness factor in the engine bay.

Grounding cables will do better if and only if the car is OLD. When new, nah... nothing really noticeable.
*
actually i totally agree with what you say... new car have new cable and everything inside is still new. you won't notice any difference when install VS.
But on the other hand, if you have a more than five year car or your car always have this headlight burn out thing often, then your car might have unstable voltage supplied from generator or battery. then this VS = VOLTAGE STABILIZER will stable the voltage supplied throughout the whole car.
that is why i did mention very very earlier in the blog/topic that it will be a waste to buy the VS for a new car. Just save the VS money at the moment for other more useful gadget...

nothing to proud of actually... it is not good to drive fast at all...
sorry that i don't encourage video taping the action, coz it is not for fun and enjoyment.
we do it just to test persona and vios car performance and just keep everything down to earth and report to you all the good news on our proton persona...

sorry.. smile.gif

Sigh... 32bits... I'm in trouble... Hope tomorrow can settle... nothing big major issue... Pray for me...
*
don't be like that la... you know, that day i heard radio said PROTON is proud that their car don't have MAJOR problem (like the one with Toyota and Lexus to call back few models)... they even said that PROTON is heading the right direction towards producing cars that can competing other global brands. i know i know, some of you still have comments on this (including me)...

but look at the bright side, PE with the new ECU won the new vios in the performance test. flex.gif

I'm using Lokatoo and it's fine for me.. it's not very difficult to understand.. Maybe Garmin has better GUI and graphics..

Btw, anyone here knows anything about Nano cable? I heard that it's a cable connecting from Alternator to bettery, which helps to charge up the battery and hence reduce fuel consumption. Is it really effective?
*
actually i quite agree with you, Lokatoo is quite user friendly.
my friend had garmin gps, the graphic is better than Lokatoo, but the address searching is no where better than Lokatoo...

Added on July 11, 2010, 10:20 amrecently tried the Shell RON 97 V-Power...
it sucks!...
Car no power and feels like the car not moving when step on the accelerator.

i'll stick back to Petronas RON 95, cheap and powerful!

shell ron 95? well, i think this topic has been mention here before... most of the ppl using it will hate it...
but i didn't expect the shell ron 97 V-Power to be that bad...
i had pump full tank v-power, now eager to get rid of it out of my petrol tank.
later might go genting and use up all the petrol...

for those who have ICM "eeee" sound... i got my PE 3rd May and notice about it... but i didn't bother, until now, the sound had vanish.
the other thing is the drum brake got "dak dak dak" sound when braking... after you run in the brake pad, the sound will vanish too...

give your car some time to run in and all the sound will vanish away...

but till now still have one sound which is the metal knocking sound when cornering uneven road... pending for my second service to install the ori valve thing...

Added on July 18, 2010, 12:44 pmfor those who still have doubt about Persona Elegance...

well, i just want to share something with you. My brother in law just taken his new Vios. he is having problem on the wheel lower arm, he claim that got sound coming out...

One of my LC friend too have problem with his new vios, morning very hard to start his car, seem that the electronic in his car got problem and had to leave the car at the service center to check.

the new honda city too have problem, as well as kia and other cars...

i think proton have so far come out a better car - persona, compared with the previous models. it is up to you all the judge.

i do believe proton can make or already made a quality car...
the problem is their response really slow when to overcome problem that appear when the car already on road..
which many of us complaint about... buzzz sound at dashboard, knocking sound.. etc...
i owning PE highline, and already got a car... but after 8 days when my car should be delivered ,car already at showroom but send back to SC due but facing alarm problem... u see.. taking 8 days just to solve alarm problem...

like the buzz sound at dashboard... its already spread out widely in internet and yet, proton still delivered the car which same faulty buzz sound that easyly fixed (just change ICM relay).. why they not hired somebody just to red rumours in internet n report to top management so they can take fast action...  blush.gif
*
Customer service... yes... they definitely have to improve on this...

honestly speaking, Proton did improve a lot starting with the Persona. Fittings are more properly made, plastic panels like door panels, pillar trims, boot trims, floors are all fully padded and the car is far more solid than all previous models before it. Ever since the Persona, u will see better improvement on gen2, waja, exora.

mind u, i was a anti proton guy ever since the start of the 2nd batch of wiras many moons ago. back then i would curse Proton to hell but i never thought i would be owning one today! Actually it all started with my curiosity of the Persona one day when i was damn f***ing bored at home. Wanting a sedan to replace my myvi back then but do not want to spend so much for a car (for now). test drive it, checked the price..... wtf man.... comon... almost same price with myvi and with far better built and quality??? my heart was instantaneously bought over. With this price range of a proper sedan....... what is there more to ask?! Yea sure, it does have its own problems here and there. But so far, based on my experience, none is as bad as my ex 2006 MyVi (A)!!!!!!! Not even close.
*
this is one of the example that i was trying to convey to others who still have doubt on proton persona...
even myvi have the problems.
ours is on the economical range cars. how about the more expensive cars?
Beemer too have a lot of problems...
just open our ear to listen and you will find all kind of stuff / problem.
final words, proton is more or less same level as vios, city, myvi n etc in terms of quality and handling...
it is up to you to choose which car you want base on many factor (monthly installment, how much you can afford, for what usage, small or big car, town drive or urban drive)

It depends how you think...

For me, i would buy a cheap good car to go from point A to point B.

1. now a days, accidents don't give warning... although you are very careful driver, going turn corners with the right speed, slow down on junctions, you don't kacau other driver and other driver won't kacau you. well, this is not totally true... you can't explain those cars which lost control suddenly driving towards you and BOOM! the accident occur and its not your fault!... you know what i mean...

2. you car just park at the right place at the right time and you when shopping, come out just to see your car door got other ppl's car color with a little dent... or worst, your car being knock on the door or bumper with a large patch of other ppl's car color...

3. And not to mention those ppl who like to write words on your new car or old car with new paints with their keys...

4. Other car with the same level as Persona. (vios, city, mazda 2 and etc)... THEY COST MORE IN MALAYSIA only! I think you all should know this, all these cars actually cost the same price as our Persona. I was thinking, why the shit should i pay more that doesn't worth that much in the global market? letting the "special body" earn the extra? no way man! not with my hard earn money!

all these too added into thinking of buying what car smile.gif

no problem with mine... maybe you can train your left leg to do the braking...
i learn mine few years ago, and i'm quite comfortable with it...

WARNING: TRAIN YOUR LEFT LEG BRAKING WHILE YOU ARE AWAY FROM OTHER ROAD USERS.

*
The water pump is very very important... it keeps the water circulated from the radiator to the engine and come back to the radiator again...
Why they need to change it together with your timing belt?
well, the timing belt is connected to the water pump.
the water pump don't have a motor in it, but when the timing belt runs, it will run the water pump as well.
so, why should we change the water pump?
well, the fan blade of the water might wear off as you drive...
(attached herewith the water pump in my Atos that i changed recently)
