QUOTE(soket @ May 27 2010, 04:45 PM)
Guys, tolong! Juz now when I off my camera it vibrated quite strongly n produced sum vibration sound. Now the same thing happen whenever I on or off it. I think it should be the sensor cleaning thing. Will it affect the sensor if I cont to use it?
*

hehe... is it the "trrrrrr" sound ? hehe

I had the same experience too, and was very afraid somethin is wrong with my A550
However, the guys here assured me that it is all right. Yes, it is the sensor cleaning mechanism. I have no problem till now also no problem using my alpha.

I dont think it is the SteadyShot vibration... since bro soket's vibrate when turning ON and/or OFF. I believe it is the sensor anti-dust mechanism at work...
ie the trrrrrrrr sound.

I think it is the anti-dust mechanism la

Is it light?

The price's look good ... biggrin.gif
*

To me, it is light (I dont know how to compare). From the specs, it is 1.44kg (not sure if that includes the weight of the ballhead or not).

Price wise... yeah, I believe I got a good price. smile.gif

I just luv the compactness of the package (tripod, ballhead, carry bag) wub.gif

Ini semua eiR's poison punya fault!!! mad.gif laugh.gif

All sifus,

How to make a good shoot on our door flower when with strong wind?
I go for high shuttle speed still unable to recover.
Pls educate me.. Thanks.
*

me no sipu... but easier if you could attach photos.

It is difficult to shoot flower in windy situation... maybe can try shooting at different time... eg early in the morning or later in the afternoon where usually not too windy.

QUOTE(mastering89 @ May 30 2010, 01:12 PM)
Gouki : a more poison to upgrade . reason i meant  laugh.gif

i still cant figure:
1) when to use the white card on cobra
2) when to use the wide diffuser
3) when to use the stoffen diffuser
4) where to bounce?
5) if no wall to bounce how?
6) if i use fill flash but lower shutter to be used as slow sync, is the effect the same with slow sync? (situation where no time to change settings)
*

This is my noobie opinion, wait for sipu to advise.

However, I use (which may not be the correct approach):

1- built in white bounce card on cobra usually to get the catchlight. It is too small to illuminate the subject IMHO. To illuminate subject, maybe a whale-tail bounce card would perform better than the built in cobra bounce card

2- wide diffuser when shooting something close

3- stoffen diffuser when shooting direct flash (fill)

4- bounce towards ceiling

5- direct flash if no wall/ceiling to bounce

6- fill flash + low shutter == slow sync

correct me if Im wrong... thanks

I find it histerical that there are people who are pretentious of helping the alpha community yet when find the opportunity try to belittle the system with various "facts" (so called) whilst at the same time claiming non brand biased

QUOTE(RedFrame @ May 30 2010, 05:49 PM)
Hi guys it me again smile.gif
I've sort of got this lens addiction right now sad.gif
Got myself Minolta 50mm f1.7 and Beercan f4 due to the recommendation of the experts here. I am currently thinking of getting a wide-angle lens to complete me collection.

I'm going to South Korea soon for a month and I don't wanna miss any opportunities taking pictures of their world-cup frenzy (and artificial hot chicks I assume:).. Might as well be well-prepared with my lens arsenal:)

So any recommendation for the best value wide-angle lens?

Thanks Qi Tan

Assuming you are using an APS-C camera (not FullFrame), have a look at dyxum.com for UWA (Ultra Wide Angle) lens (ie ~10mm to 17mm at closest focal length)

The SAL 1118 is fine lo. But the plastic feel abit turn off. Go straight for Tokina 1116 f2.8. The metal built damn nice. Sharp too!

The Tokina 11-16 F2.8 got a very high rating... rclxms.gif
