I am planning to go perhentian on middle of May.
For 3D/2N my budget is ard RM500-600 per person.
1) Any suggestion perhentian kecil or besar is better ? prefer to see more fish, turtle and sea creature. Anyway i am just snorkeling, not diving
2) Most of the snorkeling there is bundle with resort or i can look for snorkeling center in the island ? prefer to see more fish. Last time go Redang they only bring us nearby, seem like not much fish.
2) i am from KL, go there by bus or flight is better ?

i haven't been to perhentian yet. bought a package for 1st may

but this is based on my reading on this thread on somewhere else

1. it's depend on the environment you like
perhentian kecil is more beautiful, and catered for backpacking style tourist. perhentian besar, is catered for for higher end of the two. you can stay on one island then use water taxi to taste both.

2. you can get snorkeling package from somewhere else. they pretty much brought you to same spot.
there's a guy in this thread that rent a kayak and paddle around perhentian kecil. he said the most beautiful spots he found are the one that is not being abuse by snorkeling center operator.

3. go by bus can save money. go by flight for comfort
I opted to go by bus, because i will arrive at kuala besut early in the morning thus saving cab fare, and come back by flight.

My girlfriend and I were planning to go visiting Pulau Kecil from April 16 (early afternoon) to April 21st (early morning) 2015.

Could you please recommend a cheap (no more than 100RM/night, the cheaper the better) chalet where we could stay? We would like to have attached bathroom too.

It seems that this symphony chalet accommodation doesn't accept booking, it's just walk in and pay.
Is it possible that by April 16th there will be some chalet with attached bathroom left?

is it ok if i go to perhentian on this labor day + wesak leave without pre-book the hotel?

thinking of just and go there, and walk-in to the hotel.

i spent about a week, contacted about 30+ chalets/resorts/homestays, travel agencies before i can score 2 rooms. and that was a month ago. ended up on perhentian besar. can't get anything on perhentian kecil. if you wanna to take your chances, consider this,

1. arrive at the island on 30th of april, early morning preferably. because there are some chalets that only for walk in so there's chance you can score a room. arriving on the 30th should give you some advantage comparing to others who arrive on the 1st may. don't expect good rooms though.

2. be ready to accept that no room is available. next option is some chalet / homestay in kuala besut. there are some snorkeling operators that offer snorkeling trips that will pick you up from kuala besut jetty.

3. if you adventurous enough, bring a tent. there's a camp site on the island.

Bring tent... Can camp beside symphony chalet...
During my visit, got 20 tent there occupied by student... School trip perhaps...
