Nice one bro  thumbup.gif

3 years ago I go Perhentian Besar with my friends, there were 4 of us, we rented 2 kayak and go around the Besar island.
The other side of the island really abit creepy, and we saw sharks too  blink.gif scare the hell out of us, we kayak with all our energy to leave that place immediately. Back to the resort, the staff told us that the sharks won't bite, already familiar with people snorkeling and diving there. It is known as shark spot, where the resort could bring the tourist go for diving / snorkeling, with extra charge.

Took us around 7 hours too, and we got serious sun burnt.. haha.
We were all first timer in Kayak. But maybe we were young and daring that time.

It was a really fun and amazing experience.
ya.. kinda dangerous thinking back now.. but this is how young people like it  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

Glad to find ppl as crazy as us.. at least you have 2 kayaks.. the island is not exactly that small.. we also kayak with all our energy on the far end of the island.. my friend was sunburned so badly that even bathing is a painful experience..

Think back, luckily it's not tioman because it's 50km in perimeter and also the current in Tioman is crazy.

Well it is one of my most memorable adventure I ever had.

went to perhentian besar during the merdeka weekend 31aug-2sep and stayed in watercolours dive centre, 10 pax.
weather was awesome, and the hotel was good. the food provided was even better.
went to all the usual snorkelling spots like shark point, marine park, turtle point etc. and it was fun.
we got underwater camera so we took photos with the turtle yo!

that night we took the water taxi to perhentian kecil to party a bit, and it was actually more awesome in perhentian kecil, especially the nightlife. the nightlife in perhentian besar sucks balls.

but i heard from friends, and even our guide, that perhentian kecil is quite dangerous, as the locals there like to fight, is it true? heard that recently there were a huge fight among the locals and they fought using swords. wtf?
and also heard that there's frequent break-ins in the hotels in perhentian kecil, and that's why its advised to always bring your valuables.
is it that bad? or is it just a rare occurance?
hope somebody can clarify this.

on the second day, we also did a mini trekking adventure. went up the rocks in perhentian kecil and see the windmill + solar panels. the view from the top was awesome. its just sad that the stairs leading down to the beach/small jetty there is broken.

the only scary thing is that on our last night there, there was a huge thunderstorm. we were just about to have our dinner and suddenly the wind started to blow so strong that not only plates flew, even the chairs and tables got overturned. but nothing bad happened luckily.

oh, also, on that saturday itself, heard that there was an incident where a boatman got hit by a boat, and his arms and legs were severed. happened in shark point.

all in all, it was a really awesome and enjoyable trip, and special mention to our guide there, abang joe, who is really awesome, shared loads of infos and he's simply a legend.

The problem with kecil is due to the party scene and the growing popularity of drugs. Theft and fights have been increasing in the past few years.

Hey guys, Free and Easy better or Package?

I don't like about package is that would be too many people on the boat and you will feel like too much...

I feel like charter a boat and get the boat to bring us according to our destinations between Perhentian Besar and Kecil. How much would that be? Has anyone tried that before?

We are 7 pax, going on Jun.

Appreciate constructive replies ya. Thanks!

When you have your own group like 7 people, you can ask your travel agent to arrange as you want .But its not consider charted..everything can arrange.

Free and Easy normally will include accommodation, meals and boat boat transfer...must do activity at Islands normally snorkeling ,diving or fishing. Recommended Discovery Scuba diving..around RM150 per person...its take 1-2 hour for beginner... smile.gif

Snorkeling normally will take 2-3 hour ,you going to visit Shark Point,Teluk Kekek, Marine Park , Turtle Bay , Tiga Ruang and LightHouse. Charted will cost RM500- RM700 per boat depends which size you need.

June is Peak season due of school holiday season, highly advise you to make advance booking due limited rooms.

Planning to go Perhentian Island on 6-8/4/13 and take package.
Should I buy it now or I can wait till Matta Fair (15-17/3)? Worry if I buy in Matta Fair most hotels are fully booked.
