wear? jeans will do, no shorts, no slippers, u get the idea lah. wink.gif

t shirt also ok actually cos its just a test. but the safest, u wont go wrong wearing formal.. flex.gif

i would recommend collared t-shirt with jeans with sneakers =) comfy, not nerdy, not someone who looks like they'll fail the test laugh.gif

the test would include english (essay writing), maths (not something u've already learnt) and a general ability test (basically pattern based IQ tests)
i totally flunked my math brows.gif but i got thru. rclxms.gif pre-u level lah.

i finished my stressful singapore education.. thumbup.gif
just came back last december tongue.gif

you're up for a superb life experience you'll never regret taking up =)

anyway, which year u applied for? sec1? sec3? pre-u? hmm.gif

yup i'm from Anderson Junior College =)
after A levels, u'll qualify for singapore U but they don tell u a minimum requirement
they take the best lot obviously. (singapore = TRULY "pencapaian diutamakan" = meritocracy unlike..... whistling.gif )
don need to worry about different races and how they do
as long as u do well, u're in =)

ASEAN undergraduate scholarship, don have to apply
when u apply for uni, they'll tell u directly whether u get the scholarship or not.
anyway, u'll get a bigger picture when u start ur singapore life =)

even if u don do well, like me tongue.gif
still can come back malaysia and pwn other ppl laugh.gif just kidding sweat.gif
ASEAN scholar sure got a standard of intelligence ma.. xDDD

just work hard and get decent results n u'll get into Singapore U
as for scholarships, most of the time need all As or 1B.
for me, my results sucked, so i din bother to apply
i'm sick of the stress anyway. haha.
there's something called Discretionary Admission where results that not so good also can get in
my gf, results a bit better than me, got into NUS Engineering!
everyone was shocked. ohmy.gif so it depends
there are a lot of details if u want me to explain,
but u'll learn more on this journey

but singapore life is very nice except for the stress.
the stress is phenomenal. seriously nod.gif
but not a piece of litter on the floor.
i left my wallet on public bus, and the wallet came back to me, not a single cent lost.
same thing happened to my friend's laptop.
miracle? no =)

the best thing i got from this experience is friendship.
well, i don think it can be called friendship.
its friendship + family + a lot more unexplainable feelings.
wah now feel damn nostalgic. i miss my friends!!!
its a feeling i cant explain that i achieved with all my ASEAN batchmates from the same hostel, same college.
u'll get it sooner or later
no regrets even if i fail my A Levels =)

wow long story huh sweat.gif

lol. If the final goal is to get admitted to NUS, do STPM easier. Admission almost guaranteed, provided results can see light la. Scholarship same as above.

you're right =)
singapore a levels = stpm which is totally different from a levels taken in malaysia
u'll confirm do better if u take a levels in malaysia.
and u save 1 year

but why singapore?
like i said, the experience is totally different.
its really a money cant buy experience.
and singapore pre-u, is not spoon feed education, unlike stpm.
u wanna do well in pre-u, need to be independent.
it is taught uni style. lecture tutorial.
the teachers are tip top.
some are just a few years older than u
some are so cool they go outing with u, play dota with u, play basketball with u.
teachers are REALLY friends
of course my perspective is limited to my college.
but i'm sure nearly all teachers are good.
singapore QC so tight, wat u expect. =)
in malaysia, stpm pre-u is exactly like form 1 to form 5.
what can u get from that? =)
go uni sure hard to adapt after getting used to the same style of education for 13 years

6 months ago i was against ASEAN cos of the stress.
but after i left singapore, i realised a different thing =)

PS the public transport is AWESOME =)

hmmm..
how shld i put it..
well, i'm playful, musically talented and sporty
so yeah. my activities were a handful. (there, co-curriculum cannot slack. once in means ALL in)
i was in symphonic band for the first year (practices lasted till 9pm during concert/competition periods. we wake up at 5.45am)
but for band, we did extremely well lah =)
2nd year, switch to sports club, thought its was more relaxing, turns out we joined tchoukball tournaments which had training sessions as well.
we did well too.
i love to jam with my band, took part in Aj Idol twice in 2 years, won in 2 different categories, went for 50km overnight cyclathon ETC ETC.
opportunities are really diverse in singapore.
obviously after all these commitments, studies surely lag behind..
and me being not consistent in my work, obviously could not catch up..
plus hostel is too fun xD
well, this is my story but really does not apply to everyone.
my cocurriculum saved me actually. =)

termination of scholarship after first year..
we should not talk about this to prevent stress even before going haha sweat.gif

only for general paper there is. for other subjects, nope. i dunno about the future.
cos GP is essential to get admitted to singapore U. fail GP = fail A levels to singapore U
but i have a senior, failed GP, got into Man U. Manchester University that is xDDDDD

if she complain about parry hall, ask her to stop.
my batch was the pioneer batch that moved in..
and the hostel not even equipped..
the rooms only have 1 fan, now got 3.
a lot of things thanks to our endless complaints =)

As far as I know their selection process is quite accurate enough. Almost all those who got the scholarship are in top 200 SPM results.

of course results are important
results only come out march which is when u're already a few months studying in singapore..

Correction.
Application is NOT only based on your school's trial results, but mainly on your performance on their tests and interview process.
Once you're already accept and in their schools, Singapore MOE dun even want or care about your actual SPM results!

the number of places available is small, and hence they selection process is stringent.........you have to be consistent TOP performer, and show high activity in as wide an array of extra-curricular activities as possible, preferably in leadership roles.........only short listed applicants will be called to do the placement test........and based on that, only a small selected group will be called for the interview........

therefore, it is a given that those selected WILL easily get straight a's at spm (after all, 8000 students gets that, and they only want the TOP)........offers comes out before many school trials.........so they don't really bother with spm exams and results...........it's too low standard for them.........

in any case, they are looking for more than good exam regurgitation skills, which is what spm measures basically.....innate intelligence, leadership, and other talents (music, sports, the arts etc) are what they are looking for........

I just receive the letter for the selection test today. smile.gif The date is on this coming saturday. blink.gif
Well,i'm so nervous now. I'm not confident that i can do well in the test.
My exam result is quite good in school but i think not good enough in state. Futhermore,I'm from Perlis(the smallest state in Malaysia). So i don't think i can success apply for it. I come from chinese educated family, so i don't know whether i can do well in the english test. I think my english is suck. sad.gif I have no idea how to improve it. wink.gif
The clothes can be t-shirt and jeans?or it is better if formal?
Anything that i need to prepare before the selection test? PS:I'm applying for the secondary 3. I'm 15 years old this year.
Hope i can get your advice. smile.gif thanks. wub.gif
I don't know where is the venue. cry.gif Sunway Carnival Convention Centre(SCCC), Penang, Malaysia.

chyawshing - Be yourself, be polite always smile and be cheerful. If you not sure of the oral question ask them to repeat politely.
I think no point for me to tell you not to be nervous, but remember if you are nervous you can't think!
BTW there are some ppl already got have worse English than you! And if you're not good they wont call you already as it would only waste their time!

Dun la be stupid and wear T-shirt and jeans! This is not a funeral!
Wear short sleeve shirt and dark slacks with proper shoes. Bring a jacket cos sometimes the air-con at Sunway Carnival Convention is very cold!

You can prepare yourself with IQ test which can be source from the net.
You can read to yourself in front of a mirror to build your confidence.

Use the google map for the location. You can park your car outside or inside the shopping complex building but not on the main road.
If I'm not mistaken traveling time from Perlis to reach the BKE exit is about 1.5hours if not jam. If your driver is not familiar with the route allow additional 0.5 to 1 hour for getting lost and jams.

Just translate them to English and get your Principal to 'chop' and sign.

can you elaborate more on "translate to english"?

Do i prepare 2 of the same documents (i.e. 2 exam slips) and write "SPM examination result" on top of one of the slips, does that count as a "translated document"?

No you have to give an ENGLISH version of your SPM examination result slip!

Bahasa Melayu becomes Malay Language
