hi bro ,
who have compare this model with panny 50u20k.. which more better for picture quality.. plan to get one from this 2..

thanks bro..
*
think i'll choose this c6500 compared to u20k. those u20k are far too reflective for me whilst this c6500 is on par with v20k in their non reflective coating.

Bought it at PWTC perfect living on the last day. The next coming fair is on December 2010 called Home Deco.....im sure electrical items will be involved again.......go grab it! I actually compared Sharp and Panasonic as well....the price from Samsung is still the cheapest for a 50" plasma. The best thing is 0% installment plan for a year. About RM291 a month!!!

he was replying to a thread selling the c6500.
i did went to the perfect living exhibition and RM3.5k is impossible. samsung is exhibiting there, but they're selling at a lil bit below RRP. they're saying RM3.5k for a new 50" c6500 is impossible and must be display set. yawn.gif

I guess the best price for Samsung C6500 in k.l is 4,600. I still keep on surveying to get lower than this.

read that someone was offered RM4.2k for it.

TH-50V20K VS PS50C6500 Anyone view this side by side?
*
50V20K and 50C6500 nope. but 42V20K and 50C6500 yes.
both are running BD through HDMI playing Cars. both are uncalibrated and i've compared by cycling through the standard and dynamic modes.

hard to differentiate an uncalibrated set as the performance of both unit would be sub par. but FWIW, the V20K colours are more natural looking and the C6500 are brighter with more contrast.
for PQ, i can't tell much of a difference. black level were untested because Cars ain't no dark movie.

to the untrained eye, they both look similar. but design wise, well i have to say V20K loses by a mile (or two).

hi bro, thanx for your comment,

yesterday test motion flow using BD STEALTH & Transformer for Plasma PS50C6500,  PS63C7000 wat i can say is the PS63C7000 is better compare to PS50C6500 which is for me series 6 is still having juddering image. It goes to 55" series 6 LED which also i notice when comparing with series 7 & 8 LED.
*
C7000 price is soo much more compared to the C6500. and as far as i've read, the Cinema Smooth mode available in the C7000 & C8000 increases the black level somewhat (read from AVSforum).
didn't really notice the juddering when playing at 23.976 fps BDs. well it's supposed to have a bit of juddering when slow panning but read that's because of the framerate it's shot at. 23.976 fps is just too slow for the eye.

Go to the service menu and look for Panel Display Time.

To Access the Service Menu: Turn the power off. On the remote, press Mute followed by 1, 8, 2, Power in sequence.
*
it won't work.
to access the service mode on the C6500, need to press {INFO} {MENU} {MUTE} {POWER} while the TV is in stanby. to exit press the power again.
be sure to write down all the settings as it'll reset it.

Personally, when I check out PQ, I only wanted to look at skin tone because I know what skin tone looks like so that would be an indication of color naturalness.
*
yes but the skin tone could be changed by messing around with the advanced color settings. you'd be impressed how much skin tone could be different before and after calibration.

While not perfect, it sure beats watching cartoon program to gauge color's naturalness.
*
never said i'm comparing the color naturalness by using it.
as i've said again and again, personal preference plays a huge a part of it. while you maybe look for color naturalness, others may play a cartoon BD to gauge the contrast performance, color accuracy, picture pop and 3D lookalike. and yes you could have the picture pop out from the screen making the content look like 3D.

if color naturalness skintone is that important to you, maybe next time you could bring along some porn BD to test it. i reckon those have lots of skin.
or stick to a CRT. those have great skintone and SD performance. wink.gif

To be able to compare the color accuracy, we first need to know what's the original color and then related it to the TV's color. The original color we all know like the back of our hand is people's skin, hence I uses skin tone to gauge TV's color.

Since nobody know what's the original color of a cartoon except the cartoon creator himself, to use carton to gauge color accuracy is a futile attempt IMO.
*
shi* i written color accuracy again. my bad.
cartoon are good to gauge contrast performance and the crap

FWIW, skin tone could be changed by changing the color temperature. the default config that the TV comes in might not have things correctly calibrated. for a model that have advanced settings like the C6500, you could mess with the 10p white balance, color space and yada yada and change the outcome displayed on the screen.

i don't think there's a point in arguing with you. you win. whichever model you buy is the best. now i'm gonna go watch something on my crappy set

Paskal,

U did this using the i2display and HCFR?
*
nope. that settings are copied from various sources on the net and tweaked from there using the avs calibration disc. i got quoted USD250 for i2display. maybe later when i strike a lottery somewhere. funding to upgrade the speakers first

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Dec 30 2010, 12:36 PM)
Putih,
My only advise is check playback for a 24p and 50hz source. Black levels r elevated for these modes.
*
black levels are only elevated when playing 50Hz content and when engaging cinema smooth on 24p materials.
60Hz, 24Hz, 23.976Hz without cinema smooth won't elevate the black level. supposedly a firmware update could rectify the issue but C6500 don't even have cinema smooth to begin with so i wouldn't know whether such issue have been recitified.

I was refering to the c7000 that putih commented on. Was not aware that they removed cinema smooth from the c6500. It was available on last years 6 series plasma. But u're right elevated blacks are when cinema smooth is turned on for 24p material and when sending a 50Hz signal. The only problem is without cinema smooth a 24p signal is refreshed at 60Hz with 3:2 pulldown.
*
do you have the tools to check the actual refresh rate of the screen? because 24p material are only showed as 24Hz on my c6500 info screen

Yes in January. U can also build a simple probe to be used with an external sound card if u want. What they are showing on the info screen is input signal frequency and not actual screen refresh
*
i tried to search for instructions to build such probe. but can't seem to find any info about it. care to point me in the right direction?

Will look for it and PM u the link.

Alternatively, I am coming ur way to calibrate mysterious pj, could drop by when my new meter comes and verify the refresh rates for u if u want.
*
yeah sure. can have close inspection on the c6500 while you're at it. if the probe's circuit is simple, i can build it ASAP

Guys,

Was quote RM3299 for Samsung plasma PS50C550. Is that a good price and I know that this is a Samsung thread but is the Samsung plasma comparable with the Panasonic 50u20K?
*
the sammy is 720p while the panny is 1080p. one hd ready and another one is full hd.
so i guess it's not comparable, being the sammy is lower.
