QUOTE(netherlord @ May 22 2010, 08:14 PM) IMHO If your waiting for new product launch to lower the current price of existing AVR is kinda a waste of time. When new product comes, price tag for it is gonna be sky high cause its new and also to provide time for shop to clear their older model. Thanks bro,As for the price of the previous model wont drop much till the new hardware get abit older (2-3 month after launch). If your on a very tight budget, why not considered 2nd unit or Demo unit? Those are relatively cheaper (User's upgrading or shop willing to clear old stock) but do test properly if your going that way. Never know when you might get a faulty unit. For the shop i have no experience with them so no comment there. To fully utilise 7.1 today, most AVR do that thru HDMI only. Analog audio input are getting rarer by the day. If you are upgrading your AVR why not upgrade your sound card too. Asus Xonar HDAV 1.3 will output 5.1/7.1 (DD TrueHD / DTS MA ) bitstream to your new avr to be decoded thru HDMI (provided you use TMT player to play your files) Just my dua cent I thinking like that also, new product maybe cost around 3xxx. But, I like to have new one, still virgin. I have ATI Radeon 5870 which capable to bitstream TrueHD and DTS-HDMA. My concern is when i playing games, asus sound card doesnt have feature like Xfi, while auzentech HTHD use to decode TrueHD and DTS HDMA to 7.1 analog. That why i required 7.1 analog in. I also want to try 9.1 setup. Sound weird? I will set denon AVR to PLIIz front height from multi channel input. While the surround back signal from PC will split into to, one connect to AVR, the one connect to AMP for surr Back Speaker. Maybe it work, what you think? The other thing, if upgrade to new one, i still can use this AVR as normal AMP,. I can have 7ch passive sub woofer, which each channel have independent gain, delay(phase) and EQ. Or I can use as biamp or triamp or quadamp, EQ used as X-over, delay used as phase control and independent gain between hi and lo signal. Maybe....... |

QUOTE(netherlord @ May 23 2010, 12:54 AM) Its seems to me your trying to fit everything into 1 package (Gaming PC / HTPC / HT Set). HT set do not accommodate serious gaming very well (Xfi and such). What i would suggest is segregating everything out. Thanks Boss,1. Run Games thru a separate system to take advantage of 5.1/7.1 2. Bitstream HD audio thru ATI to AVR for HTPC functions. For the rest of your questions, i dont have 9 speakers to test (i only have 5.1) so i cant really comment. My set-up currently is based on my connections 1. Work - nothing connected (running on notebook only) 2. Games - HDMI to Monitor and Optical S/PDIF to AVR 3. XBMC and Blu-ray Playback - HDMI to AVR (bitstream) to LCD TV I have a HDMI splitter so i can switch between Monitor and AVR. Maybe you can try something like that? Tight Budget to run separate system, i made up my mind, gonna grab that AVR1910. now i can spend another 4k for my 7.1 speaker. |

QUOTE(htkaki @ May 25 2010, 03:59 PM) im looking for mordount short aviano series, but not in my budget,i only can afford something like jamo s606 or mordaunt carnival. jamo s606 around 2.3k 7.1 package, MS carnival about 2k 7.1 package 2xcarnival 6, 1x carnival 5 and 4xcarnival 1. but, i need your suggestion, should i buy better floorstanding speaker first, like aviano 8 around 2.4k, then later i buy center and sourround, or buy the complete 7.1 package. Added on May 27, 2010, 12:11 pmsome info, my ht room is 12feet wide, 18feet long and 10 feet tall. i like listening to orchestra, symphony. swing, jazz and instrumental like percussion. what the best way/speaker to experience to these kind of music, 2.0,2.1 or surround? QUOTE(SiriuslyCold @ May 27 2010, 05:19 PM) I think if speakers are good for music it's likely they'd be good for movies. but not vice versa i thought like that too, thing is, speakers that are good for music is more expensive - especially if you want to get surround. speaker good for music can be great for movie, but speaker good for movie maybe not good for music, small and slim speaker package like MS alumni and bose produce great sound effect, it only used satellite speaker, i don't think it can be good for music. but most website recommended to used big bookshelf speaker for music listening, it create accurate sound and less distortion than floor-standing cause by vibration of big enclosure, i think the best speaker suite my taste is the aviano 8, any suggestion other than mordaunt short, B&W, KEF, klipsh, or whaferdale. must less than 3.5k for 2 unit main speaker. |

QUOTE(C.T. Seong @ May 27 2010, 06:54 PM) A..A..AA....... what model im little bit confusing, i think netherlord right too, speaker good for music might be not good for movie, i search the internet, i found most THX certified speaker package consist of bipole surround speaker, which mean even good bookshelf surround speaker cannot create great surround environmental effect, the other thing, if i want to enable DSP effect (Hall, arena, etc) when listening to music, i should enable PLII MUSIC to have best experience some music recorded in 5.1 channel, the best way to hear this music is using bookshelf speaker. now i don't know what to buy This post has been edited by ariff_tech: May 27 2010, 09:19 PM |

QUOTE(SiriuslyCold @ May 28 2010, 12:32 AM) this (better mains+dipole surrounds) will work just fine as long as you don't start getting into multichannel musicĀ - on SACD, DVD-Audio or Blu-ray - those need the same speakers all around. thanks SiriuslyCold,Paradigm wrote something about surrounds - http://www.paradigm.com/en/paradigm/literature/surrounds.php that what i read from web, if listening to musing in 7.1 mode, all speaker must be equal and place at the same height, if you using floor standing speaker, your surround speaker must be same speaker as main, even the center speaker must be same floor-standing, but for movie, center is center speaker which enhance in vocal, front can be floor-standing or bookshelf, both place same height level with ears, and bipole speaker is the best speaker for surround which place 2-3 feet above hearing level. i don't have any experience, but i think it gonna have a big differences.
