Well, I use Microsoft Security Essentials for my gaming machine while for my mobile device such as my laptop and netbook, I use a full Internet Security suite such as Kaspersky's for full protection.
Both does its job pretty well. |

Normally I would recommend users who don't know much about computer to just get any all-in-one solutions i.e. Internet Securities for their ease.
As for myself and those a bit more tech savvy, I would go for ONE free AV, anti-malware scanner, and a firewall(not windows). That is pretty much a good rule of thumb to follow when it comes to surfing. Of course, one has to practise safe surfing given the security protection they have. |

QUOTE(BlueWind @ Apr 22 2011, 12:13 PM) Normally I would recommend users who don't know much about computer to just get any all-in-one solutions i.e. Internet Securities for their ease. Yup, less hassle free to get an all-in-one solution since that one program basically handles everything. As for myself and those a bit more tech savvy, I would go for ONE free AV, anti-malware scanner, and a firewall(not windows). That is pretty much a good rule of thumb to follow when it comes to surfing. Of course, one has to practise safe surfing given the security protection they have. Can't agree more that the user also has to be responsible when surfing or conducting any online activities to ensure a safe browsing experience. No matter how good the anti-virus is, it still can't completely/always prevent viruses from invading your computer. Also be wary when opening downloaded files or unknown files from anywhere be it your thumbdrive since if you give your computer or anti-virus the green light to open the file, you are also opening the door for the virus. |

Unfortunately those are the common source of getting infected. The general question that everybody has been asking for the best security protection system is not the way to prevent yourself from becoming a victim of malware.

Avast! 6 Free Antivirus features are just like an Internet Security just without the Firewall.. It has an auto-sandbox which is a + when an unknown program starts to run on your system.
