Maxis sometimes DCs for me, but it's like once a month or more. Best broadband ever! More expensive than streamyx, at RM98 for 6GB, it gets capped so damn quickly. Even tho customer service was friendly they couldn't make it work faster - sometimes it caps so fast it's like they cheated me one month and next month they relaxed a bit...

8GB for RM100 is really good, but yeah, prepaid? I don't understand, shouldn't postpaid give a better deal (for any internet service) - faster speed or higher cap - since they are guaranteed services sold? Zzz

But better than streamyx DC every 2 minutes or can't even switch on - it wasn't my modem it was the damn internet.

6 months free modem? Are you guys talking about the small little USB modem?

I don't know which plan I had, 5 months contract with some down payment, 6GB/month, RM98/month. I doubt the modem is useful even if you keep it after 6 months.

Too bad there is the 6GB cap. >.<

Apart from that, this is pretty much the best internet there is at this price.

My highest speed was around 930KBps, which is 7.44Mbps, so I suppose Maxis' bandwidth is an underestimate.

Average speed is hard to say, because it can be anywhere from less than 100KBps to 4/500 KBps. Higher than 500KBps is rare.

Not all packages came with free modem. Some must be returned. At the moment I'm not even sure if mine needs to be returned. BTW, I heard the modem is wired to only work with Maxis SIM, has anyone hacked it?

No, it doesn't. But being the service that it is, sometimes it is slow and your pictures do not load completely - hence, pixelation.

I really hate the MyLaunchpad crap which stops me from loading other sites. And it takes up the usage volume as well. Grr.

Amazing, eh? I call them up tons of times, they don't/won't tell me anything.

Not sure if it's possible to exploit it that way (but it's not because you already do have unlimited internet). So why do you need a new router/phone modem?

At the moment, TM's 10Mbps and 20Mbps packages are still faster.

And, Maxis, as well as it has done in expanding their 3G services, have been a terrible letdown with their own 6-24Mbps broadband services (which as of now are still only 6Mbps and limited to a couple places).

If 42Mbps HSPA+ (which is meant to "start becoming widely available" next year, meaning we may wait till nearly 2012) is 3-10Mbps, the promised "100Mbps" next March may be significantly less.

In real terms I don't think background progs use up bandwidth.

At least not for me smile.gif

Oh I see, thanks Evoque. After all, Maxis sold us the modem, why not use it smile.gif

The code you enter (EMEI) will be the code for your new SIM (i.e. UMobile)? A one step process?

Apparently there is, but so far I have not been able to obtain it.

Every Maxis employee refuses to reveal information about it/denies its existence.

Tried to subscribe for company (corporate), also failed.
