D90 with lens is around 3.3k, so it's all on ur budget, D40 I think is a bit old.... I hav no idea on old models, I know D60 is better rite, n it goes around 1.5k with lens. Shutter count should preferably less then 10,000, the life time of the shutter in Nikon DSLR is around 100,000.

Warranty wise better get an unfill warranty card, but actually warranty card need to b accompanied with a valid receipt with a date on it. So u need to bring a unfill warranty card back to the shop the previous owner bought it n get it chopped when u wanna purchase. For me, the previous receipt the owner bought it is important, juz an unfill warranty card is useless!! unless u can get a random shop u knew to issue a new receipt with date for you, and chop on the warranty card when u wanna claim the warranty.

I hope this is confirmed n glad to hear that..... but as wat celciuz said it's better to see the receipt of the from the 1st purchase to check the date of the item as published, esp for lens, body we still can see the SC

If u think SC doesnt mean anythin, would u purchase a used body with 20k SC but used age of 1 month? I don agree that man.... My D5k body is juz 1 month+, but bcoz of my trial n error that stacks up to 5k+ SC, now it would not worth as much as a 3 month old but 500SC body

Built in motor in the dslr means you can auto focus with any lens regardless of whether the lens is an AF-S or AF-I (nikon lenses with built in motor for autofocus).....as for taking beautiful pics ....i think this has more to do with the person taking it instead of the dslr itself.....

If you're afraid of blurry pics, then use tripods.....

btw..the motor is for autofocus.. means d5000 need to mount with lens that got motor by itself or in a simpler word; a lens that got AF word on its lens body. AF lens usually pricey than non-AF.
blur picture u can cater with VR(vibrate reduction) lens for nikon/IS(image stabilization) for canon..

imho, til/swivel screen in d5000 would pretty much does help for ur candid picture..coz candid sometime taken at unexpected angle..so tilt/swivel screen would be good feature. 500D got extra megapixels and got bigger LCD (3") for u to see ur shots more clearly. both camera would do pretty much same in result..so, it depends on how u're taking them..that's more important.
