Dell UltraSharp U2311 23-inch Widescreen Monitor got additional cash redemption. Now at RM649 only, even cheaper than 2209WA. Is it a good buy?

it is 8ms, but with ips panel... dell st2410, 5ms, tn panel, 24", hdmi connection, only costs RM679...

The previous discount ended 27th May. Saw one of the LYN forumer selling Dell UltraSharp™ 2209WA (22", 1680 X 1050, IPS panel, 5ms) for RM529 with 2 years warranty, not sure it's the same type of warranty as Dell offering premium panel warranty.

Received U2311H and start using it over the long weekend

Test IPS vs. TN different in a dumb way , drive to my cousin place, dual monitor with Acer 19" TN panel (can't remember the model), make text & photo window in between 2 monitors. WOW! IPS is far superior in term of color reproduction. Viewing angle also much better. If you are wondering between IPS and TN, easy choice I think

Watch Iron Man 2 full HD, Iron Man flying around flawlessly, may be totally attracted by Gwyneth & Scarlett, see no ghost (8ms really matter?) Didn't get a chance to test out games

IMHO I pay for the difference that I can see, no regret

But if you ask me where does U2311H stands among IPS panel, I don't know as it require more than just side by side comparison. Things can look good or bad on paper (spec), but most importantly can our eye see it?

Normally you'd have to wait for the existing promotion offer to expire, which is 24/06/2010 in this case. Hopefully the new price after that will drop. I don't know what is the probability that it will go up instead.

Finally had some time to set-up my monitors!

Dell U2311H vs Samsung 226BW. As you can see, 23" 16:9 vs 22" 16:10 does not have much difference in height. The difference lies mostly in the width. At this point I'm still displaying a 1680x1050 wallpaper on my 1920x1080 screen:


After (Dell U2311H x 2, now the monitors cover my left speaker) :


Now with a nice 3840x1080 wallpaper :



Still haven't fully tidied up the cables yet...

The viewing angle is great! I can now watch dark movies while leaning back and I won't lose any contrast/details.
