Hi all,
Not sure if this thread is still active.
My hubby was just diagnosed with OSA with AHI of 31.8. Doctor said it's classified as severe. He is not keen on using the CPAP machine and opted for surgery. But I'm not comfortable with him going for the UPPP surgery as I've read about many complications post-op, some severe and permanent.
Just want to know if anyone knows how effective SomnoGuard/SomnoDent is for someone with severe OSA? Hubby is not obese, in fact I think he's rather fit for his age. He eats healthy and exercises regularly. His lower jaw is short compared to the upper jaw which may be one of the causes of OSA. He only snores when he sleeps on his back. Unfortunately due to past shoulder injury, it's painful for him to sleep on his side.
Can anyone share some thoughts and experiences? I'm majorly stressed out!
Thanks!
It is probably too late an answer for your husband but judging by your description, your husband must tread carefully about doing UPPP especially when you mention he has a short lower jaw. He should have a sleep endoscopy done to ascertain where the problem is before he allows any surgery to be done otherwise he will not get the best benefit of surgery because the surgeon will not be able to ascertain the exact site of obstruction without doing a sleep endoscopy. Not sure if this thread is still active.

About sleeping on the side, the details in the sleep study will indicate whether he will benefit from sleeping on his side as in a significant people the problem still persists even when they sleep on their sides. Do not just look at the AHI reading.
