Materazzi: Ronaldo must meet with Inter Milan fans
tribalfootball.com - March 15, 2006
QUOTE
Defender Marco Materazzi admits he wants to see Real Madrid striker Ronaldo back at Inter Milan next season.

However, the Italian knows Ronaldo must convince Inter fans of his commitment before considering a return to the San Siro.

For last night's Champions League win over Ajax, some of the fans held up banners urging the club not to re-sign Ronaldo.

Materazzi said: "It's a shame, as Ronaldo did well at Inter, even if he left in bitter circumstances. The only thing to do is to talk about matters, so Ronaldo should speak with the Ultra leaders and work through these problems.

"He is my friend and I'd like to see him back here, but I realise a lot of people felt betrayed by his actions."

Pizarro set for exit

David Pizarro is preparing to leave Inter given the likelihood that Juan Sebastian Veron will now stay with the club.

The latter was expected to return to his homeland in the summer, thus allowing the Chilean more room in the plans of boss Roberto Mancini.

However, that will probably not be the case now and the former Udinese player isn't keen on the idea of spending another campaign on the bench.

Inter are understood to be ready to let him go out on loan next term or sell him outright if someone offers them close to the £8m which they paid for him in the summer.

Solari ponders Inter exit

Inter midfielder Santiago Solari admits that he is unsure whether he will still be with the club next season.

The Argentine arrived at the San Siro in the summer, but concedes that a lack of first team football may see him ask for another switch.

"I'm not playing in the way I would have liked for Inter, I'll evaluate everything at the end of the season," he stated.

Solari finally joined the Nerazzurri in August after a proposed move from Real Madrid initially collapsed in 2002.

Moratti prepared to sell Inter Milan

Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti says he is prepared to sell the Serie A club if the right buyer comes forward.

Moratti, who took control in 1995, has been frustrated by Inter's lack of success in recent years and the failure to win the Italian league title, last claimed by the club 17 years ago.

'If there is someone who can do better than I have and has the desire to commit themselves why should I be opposed?', said Moratti in an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport daily published on Thursday.

'I am trying to be pragmatic. As I didn't take over Inter with the intention of being in charge eternally it is right that I should contemplate the possibility of selling the club.'
