if i stay in JB, definitely i will buy a bike and travel lo. but i guess my aunt will not suggest me to do that as she always ask me to stay in SG instead. not sure if can find a $400 common room lets say if my house owner really move. if with aircond + internet, i don't mind paying $500.

QUOTE(crapp0 @ Jun 5 2010, 08:25 AM) aircond at 500? Good luck with that since its high unlikely a stranger would rent you with air con at 500 unless you stay in the utility room. And even then most singaporeans are "ngiau" and will complain once the electricity bill goes above what "they" see fit. yalo, that's why i rather take those money to JB and rent a Master room with air-cond and stay there. since Bloggerblue can survive for so long when he stay there, i guess it should be safe enough. not to mention i can buy a car and drive back to KL once a month if stay JB. |

QUOTE(kockroach @ Jun 8 2010, 12:06 PM) i definitely won't do that. You are making him fall behind others. waste 2 years in NS. unless your child is going to work in SG gov sector, else NS really a waste of time. If i have a son, i will force him to become a malaysian and only apply for PR after 20 years old. |

QUOTE(L7Awesome @ Jun 8 2010, 11:26 PM) Wah AMK rooms are really expensive. Anyone knows of room to rent in Yishun to AMK for the range about SGD300 - 500? why not move 1 more station and stay in Sembawang? a common room here cost around $400-$500. i saw a lot of those advertisement by direct owner post at the bus stop. can save on the half month agent fees also. and those places all like 5 mins walk to MRT. quite convenient. |

QUOTE(L7Awesome @ Jun 10 2010, 10:43 AM) Hi, just want to check if we are allowed to bring in foldable bicycle into MRT during the Weekdays Peak Hours (6am - 9:30am)? I read that during the trial in 2008, we can only bring in after the peak hours. I would really like to get one bike. Remove the hassle of waiting for buses. the law says yes, but imagine when people are sardine in the MRT, u think u have the chance to bring it in? unless u board the train from the 1st station. and i believe that u will have issue getting out of the train later. |

before 7am, still acceptable and u still can bring the bicycle in. anything after that, even u board from the 1st station, u will have difficulty getting it out of the train.

QUOTE(uberlebender @ Jun 10 2010, 05:55 PM) Started working in Singapore already starting last Monday. Anybody know a place around Eunos Techpark renting around SGD400(nego) with utilities and fully furnished? respect, malay bro that don't work in malaysia although got so many subsidy. you earn my respect. i dun understand why but u may say i am racist, bcoz malay got so many advantage in MY, it makes me hate (or mayb jeolous?) them. Singapore malay earn my respect and i even treat them better than chinese as i admire the way they are able to survive here and i have not encounter any mat rempit type malay in Singapore b4.My particulars: Malay male working. Non smoking but if owner smoking dont mind. Just need a small room. Light cooking only. No air-cond also okay as long as have fan. Dont mind staying with owner in house just as long as privacy is respected. Any offers do tell yeah? Thanks guys n gals! back to your question, you can try sengkang/punggol/serangoon area. with circle line open now. it is very easy to go to ur office now. just alight at macpherson station and walk there. FYI, my aunty works there as well. |

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Jun 10 2010, 07:46 PM) i'm just curious. have you guys ever thought of owning a bike in Sg ? I mean it's faster than the mrt and economical. Unless rain then no choice. i have though of this before. not feasible as taking a bike is not as economical as you though. if u add the monthly parking, petrol, ERP (assume if u don't need to pay) and maintenance, its still more expensive than taking MRT it self. not to mention when rainy days, then problem. I have considered getting myself a 500-1000cc bike so that i can travel back to KL with it. after much consideration, still MRT is a better choice. |

QUOTE(yinyum @ Jun 10 2010, 10:21 PM) hey bloggerblue, we can just wear very casual working in Apple right? T shirt & jeans + sneakers.. Can i wear short pants? not too short of coz... and is it ok to wear sandals (a bit look like slippers type) fyi, that blogger guy is wearing short pants to office like it is inside his own house like that. but i personally will wear smart casual. at least show a little respect to the company. thats what i think. the company rules is, wear what ever u think u are comfortable in as long as its not naked.I just submitted my application for E Pass today, hopefully MOM will approve it Anyone knows that wat are the consequences of not working half year (holding work permit)? I heard they said MOM will fine / deduct salary or something? Added on June 10, 2010, 10:34 pm QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 10 2010, 09:43 PM) Nope. Will never consider a bike. there is only 2 type of people will answer like this.If you suck at riding, you die. If other drivers suck at driving, also you die. Even the smallest accident is a painful and bloody affair, no matter what. 1. rich fellow (above average income where family at least have 1 car when he is young). so family members will tend to say riding a bike is dangerous blah blah blah. 2. living in big cities. riding a bike in KL is dangerous. but the 1st factor actually contribute to this as well because if u are from those poor or low income family, u will have no choice. 3. i can confirm he is a chinese. and confirm he never grow up in a family which house hold income less than RM2k before. thats why he answer like that. QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 11 2010, 10:31 AM) Perhaps... riding a kapcai on a little muddy path is somewhat different from riding a big bike on the expressway. frankly speaking, riding a bike in Singapore is 10x safer than riding in KL. 1 thing i notice is Singapore doesn't have any "manhole" in the middle of the road unlike in KL where i would say the "manhole" causes 90% of motorcycle accidents. I personally fell from my bike twice because of it. once because the "pot hole" is too deep and cause my whole bike to fall when knock into it. the 2nd time is on Federal highway motor lane where the drainage cover got stolen and my bike bang into the drain in high speed, then i fall. from that day onwards, i didn't use motor lane as using motor lane = die 100x faster than using the highway with big lorries and cars. But that's the other thing. Kampung riders who suddenly ride in cities and highways... greatly increase their risk of accidents. Just like how all those people who normally drive to supermarket only, suddenly think they are competent to do high speed long distance driving during Raya and CNY.
