QUOTE(seantang @ Aug 12 2010, 08:44 PM) With only 3 years experience, it's a pretty good offer. I dare say he won't get many other offers paying the same pay. If one starts at $2500, it's a 20% increment each year to get to $4500. Thanks seantang. My cousin job hops every 1.5 yrs.. maybe tis is why he got this offer. But before he graduated, he already gained 2 yrs exp in a medium audit firm. |

QUOTE(seantang @ Aug 13 2010, 10:48 PM) For me, the whole point of working in Singapore is to retire earlier than I could have if I stayed in Malaysia, not work even longer. Oh... and also to buy stuff I could never afford if I stayed in Malaysia. But how early can you retire compare than u work in Msia? This is also based on the assumption that RM remains RM2.30 = S$1.00, what if RM continue to strengthen against SGD in the years to come? RM is the best performing currency so far in Asia this year. |

QUOTE(seantang @ Aug 14 2010, 12:12 AM) When I did my sums 6 years ago before I came to Sg... I will have saved the same amount of money (in a common currency) by the time I'm 43 in Sg, as I would have at 55 in Mys. But that calculation was based on a flat salary to make the calculation easier. But the fact is that my company has a much larger office in Singapore. I have gotten 3 promotions since I arrived here, whereas in KL, I had already hit the ceiling. Wow, well said...For you guys, it should be even earlier as most of you are practically starting your careers here. Whereas I had already "wasted" quite a few years in KL and Ipoh. If I could re-do my career all over again, I would work overseas immediately after graduation and after 15-20 years, retire back to Ipoh to a simple stress free job making coffee at Starbucks or something, earning just enough to pay for the road tax, petrol and insurance for my Evo X or Skyline GTR which I would have already paid in cash for. But many Malaysians would still prefer to stay in Singapore after accumulating enough savings throughout their career as their spouse might me Singaporean or their children would like to receive education in Singapore. Unless, one decided to remain single or have no children or their Singaporean spouse decided to follow thier husband/wife back to some Malaysian village. |

Seems many dun mind sharing rooms with others.
For me, I dun like sharing room with others. I would rather pay 500-600 to fully occupy a room for myself and minimise my budget on entertainment such as clubbing etc... |

QUOTE(reign226 @ Aug 19 2010, 07:26 PM) For more budget experience can try Suki Sushi. The selection menu not as large but the important thing is they have free flow sushi sashimi! Me and my friends tasted it and loved it. Good service and food is fresh, easily beats the lousy RM88 places in KL like Tenji and Jogoya. Per pax around $25 with gst. Where izit? Izit sushi sashimi or fresh 100% sashimi? |

QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Aug 21 2010, 04:25 PM) most of the time i will be flying around $30-$40 for the air ticket. just book around 2 weeks in advance than can edi. But if expensive period also around $60-70 only. I don't go back that often, now i wait Jetstar promo i only go back. I am a fat guy so if sit Airasia, not comfortable. Tiger got more legroom but still not comfortable. Still Jetstar is the best but around $4-5 more expensive. But Jetstar we can pay with the SAM machine to save the $6 admin fees. So still Jetstar better. Absolutely, JetStar is by far the most comfortable budget airline and no delays. But if you wanna see beautiful stewardress, still Airasia is the best BUT be reminded that Airasia is the worst budget Airline for delays !!!!! |

It all depends on the salary offered:-
As a yardstick, below are my guidelines whether you should accept a particular job offer. Having said that, it still depends on you at the end of the day. For junior positions:- Accounts Assistant (AP/AR/GL clerk) Audit Assistant Data Entry positions etc S$1,500 to S$1,700 shld be fine Executive level:- S$2,200 to S$2,600 Senior Executive positions S$2,800 to S$3,300 Managerial S$3,700 to S$4,500 What's your opinion on the above? |

QUOTE(seantang @ Aug 29 2010, 06:48 PM) You are right, of course. Life does tend to take the path of least resistance. Wah, well said.. Unfortunately, some refuse to face the fact and some of us totally ignore our problems. But there is another option... change the status quo. Those of us who are overseas do what we can. I go home to vote in the election and blogged to carry my views to those in Malaysia. The blog attracted several police reports during the last election, so my stategy must be making some difference. I have not given up hope of returning to Malaysia. Things are changing because of 2 reasons. Firstly, decent people are fair-minded. Some day the larger Malay community will realise that ''maruah'' means self respect, not pride. You cannot attain self respect without being inscrutably fair. Secondly, the country is running out of money. The handouts will have to stop when there's none left to hand out. Then they will have to start 'creating' wealth instead of being obsessed with 'taking' it. I better stay in Singapore for the time being while seeing how our country sustain and cope with the increasing corruption, economy failure and racial disharmony. You know we as the minority can help.. but our help have minimal effect and some "chaps" refuse our help. I refer to Namewee for instance. |

Despite this, our challenges ahead as Malaysians These few days, there a quite a number of racists news floating around our papers, radio, TV and the internet. The most focused one being Namewee and Siti Inshah. I hope 2010 merdeka all races can achieve harmony like SINGAPORE !!! |
