hey yo.. it's king george avenue.

check out http://www.flatsdb.com/index.php?act=rent

you can filter to rent whole unit... many advertisements
*
I've tried the site, but the filter is useless.
Despite choosing only hdb/hudc, price range between 1.2k to 1.4k and whole unit critereas, the result still comes out with condo, price below 500 and rooms (instead of whole unit).

What do you think are the chances of getting fully furnished whole unit, 10mins walking distance to MRT + less than 40mins MRT ride to Raffles at prices below 1.5K?

u need to scroll to the bottom table la.. because the top table are the "priority" advertisements that stay there no matter what filter you use...

try again la... $1500 can definitely get you a 1+1 unit near town & mrt...
*
ah..got it now.

Thanks

Wan to ask, which will be a faster way to get job in Spore

a) via headhunter; or
b) find job online; or
c) directly come to spore to find job?
*
why "or" instead of "and". use all 3 if posible.
but © is risky/costly way lar

got a problem... my company is getting listed and we have a subsidary in a unwanted country... now to disconnect the shareholders to this subsidary they want to use my name as the shareholder... i wonder what kind of liability can be expected?
*
Depend on which country lar.
But in SG/M'sia, pure shareholder no liability, unless u director/give guarantee/etc/no management responsibility.
shareholder just like investor. whether u 100% or 1% shareholding.

But then i presume it's not in develop country, since u've said unwanted. so got to get expert's opinion.

my bosses are directors... now the problem is, if any company is in business with my company and any shareholder or top management has a relationship in that company then we have to declare to sgx...

both of them are usually the ones who are the proxy shareholders for subsidaries... but those other subsidaries are in reputable countries... now the problem arises when one of the upcoming subsidary will be in a us sanctioned country and we dont want people to know that as it might affect the main company... so i might be the goat that they will use as a proxy shareholder... i wonder whether there will be any liability on my part... this subsidary is making lots of profit and it is a limited liability company... so all liability is up to the share/capital only...
*
how small is the inter transactions?
not big enuf to disclose in the prospectus?
Also " by rite" inter transaction with companies of proxy or nominee shareholding also need to disclose. i.e. u proxy to ur directors. in a way u are abetting with ur directors to avoid disclosure. u can get caught also by SGX, if they can prove it. why the risk?

anyway, if in US sanctioned company better bkful lor.
mana tau if the company got terrorist funding etc, and US CIA will link u to it. (a bit dramatic eg lar, but never know).

at the end of the day, cost benefit analysis, only u know lar.

Golden Agri is the world's 2nd largest palm oil producer, u mean your company is the 3rd largest palm oil producer which in return become our competitor?

Can share which department or position are you in?

Actually 2 companies also interests me and 2 companies offer the same salary to me too. This is why I need to consider which company provide better bonus, career progression, culture and so on.
*
Palm oil sounds more lucrative than property developer.
But depends on what u do lar, sales, finance, IT, HR, Admin, etc..
Not sure bout GA, but Capitaland is singapore coy and very competitive (a.k.a stressfull).

As for me,currently i have a friend in MY that want to save SGD here, she had opened a SG account here and whenever i want to TT money back, i will just bank in to her SAV and she will TT MYR to my MY bank account with agreeable amount,
we do it based on daily exchange rates, save on TT charges,
*
WHat's the diff with other types of TT??
The bank still charges for the TT rite?
Why u nid to transfer via ur fren? dun u have a bank a/c in SG and a bank a/c in M'sia?

Not necessary. One may apply for Personalised Employment Pass (PEP).

*
So this will be an avenue for people who cannot get PR after working for 2yrs, rite?

I think he transfer the money to his friend's account here in SG (She is saving in SGD), then She in Malaysia transfer RM to his account in Malaysia. So no TT Charges liao.

Most HDB landlords do not register with HDB. Mine doesn't... and with my neighbours, I act like I own the place tongue.gif My view is that if you don't do anything that makes people complain, you should be quite safe. HDB usually acts on tips, they rarely go house to house unless it's one of those notorious blocks with lots of foreign worker dorms.
*
Worst case scenario, if HDB finds out, will the tenants be penalised as well, or only the owner?
And most likely whatever deposit paid will be burned rite?

Hi all,

Just a few questions. When you first look for accomodation in SG, how do you carry your deposit+advance+commission to SG?

Cash, Cheque or other alternative?

Isit true that, when you see a place and you like, you immediately need to pay those dep+adv+comm to book the place?

notworthy.gif

Also i think another forumer ask this question as well, do we need to provide the WP/EP photocopies to the agent?
What other documents?

What I did last time was to carry load of cash.. unfortunately.  Just get ready 1 Month Deposit + First Month Rent + 1/2 Month Rent to Agent.  For example, if you room is SGD400, then bring along SGD1000.  Normally it's cash dealing as far as i know.

From my experience, if you like a place, and if you dont book it first, then someone else might come and grab it.  It's normally based on first come first serve basis.

Yeah I did give my EP photocopies to the agent so that they can help to submit the forms, etc for processses with the HDB.  Nevertheless I believe you might get your Pass a while longer if you just got a job in SG.
*
Thanks a lot Awesome, but if i havent get my EP yet?
Any other docs they need?

agree with u, but then nowadays most of the advertisement on the bus stop are mostly agents. and i really hate dealing with agents.

Care to share wat bad experience you had with the agents?

Btw, how do you know if the owner is indeed owner of the house and can rent it to u? do u ask them to show any docs?

Yes, indeed. For 2+1, this area cost $1700-$1800  sad.gif

Fully furnish, but we don't mind whether it is partial or fully furnish, as we already have most of the it.
Location at Kallang, to be exact is Kallang Bahru.
Kallang. Sharing with 4 person including me.
Planning to get 1 more person, since we have an extra room now.

Renting whole unit is allowed after 5 years owning the unit.
*
A 3+1 unit F/F at Kallang for 1.5K!!
how did u get it? that's super cheap for such central area!!
Can't even find 2+1 for that price at central area.
Even 1+1 for 1.4k is very rare.

I just got myself a place at Bedok Reservoir for 500$. Why is it that I need to pay full month fees to agent when all he did was put the advert on the net where I found it. Even the owner can do that! Please somebody make me feel better.

N btw, what is all this 1+1, 3+1 term?
Is it how I paid for my 1 month plus 1 month advance when i first rent the room?
*
Unfortunately most of the advert is by agents. only less than 5% are advertised by direct owner. especially if u search thru the net.
probably the owner is lazy to go thru the hassle of making appointment to tenants, reciv calls, and have to go all the way to the house just to show ppl who might not be interest to rent. sumore have to do some selling/negotiations skills.

but commonly it's half month agent fees for one year lease, 1mth for 2yrs. Dear forumers, pls correct me if i'm wrong.

1+1 = 1 room + 1 living room
2+1 = 2R+1LR
Dunno about other terms. to make matter complication u have also A, I, NG, etcetc.....
i've tried to search thru hdb website, but can't find a complete list to describe all types.

Hi guys,
Wat is the nearest hypermarket (equivalent as Tesco/Carrefour) near Bedok/Tanah Merah?
Or maybe a shopping mall (like Jusco), where you can get most of the household supplies?

How big is the Bedok Shopping Complex, located nearthe Bedok Rd? Does it have a supermarket and all the other stuffs like a Jusco have?

I have a friend who pursued degree in Malaysia, managed to find an intern job during his final year in Singapore, during 2008. But he works for FOC.
*
i think he will get allowance rite?
as i know, normally internship has no salary, but they got allowances, normally around RM600, i guess SG same practice, but the allowance amount may differ.

The purpose of internship is too learn 100%, not to work. Hence he dun "works for FOC"

QUOTE(oooooo @ Aug 23 2010, 12:03 PM)
hi, please give some advise to me...
Last week I been offered on the spot by a typical chinaman company in sg but the salary well below what i asking for.

Should i accept this offer first as my stepping stone and start looking for job right after i started my job in sg?

Will I have better chance to get hired if i stay in sg?
FYI, my ep have been approved... HR urge me to sign the offer letter and medical check up within this week...
*
Depends what is your objective and how much lower. Also what is your potential future job, industry and future money. All this are very subjective and only u know better, else u've got to share more infos, if u indeed wanted better advises.

For e.g. in my case if i've been offerred 50% lower i definitely wouldn't take it, cos i'll be expending in SG compared to RM considering i will wana maintain my standard of living. As a rough idea, if i compute the net savings (after minus living cost, tax etc) and convert it. then compare with other alternatives, all in RM. If it's the same then i won't take the job, of course, this is my way. you may have your own idea.

As for chaging jobs, u better wait until u get PR (which can be 3mths to 3yrs, depends again). Cos "re-application" of EP may be tough, as the MOM may wana punish u for jumping ship, even got new employer wana take u.

Yes, easier to find, if in SG, but subject to the EP matter mentioned above.

But out of curiosity, if u haven't agreed why in the hell the company apply and obtained EP for u?
And why did you give all the infos for EP application. Did u sign any EP application form? and sign off all those consent/declaration?
In this case, if u dun accept, u'll have a record with MOM, where an EP was issued for u. hence harder to find other job in the future.
