1. as per tittle?
2. I'm using normal value DDR2 800Mhz RAM (not high performance or o.c RAM) to o.c my CPU (only)..can or not?

1. No

Basically to understand why you can't do that is that your CPU works in this way

It derives its internal clock speed from (FSB)* Multiplier (assuming its following pre-Intel Core series) Basically 3Ghz Pentium D would be 800* 3.75 (where 3.75 is the multiplier) (Should apply the same for newer processors)

The other way to overclock is by using Extreme edition or engineering sample of the processor whereby the multiplier is unlocked , so you can basically increase it or decrease it without the need of overclocking FSB

Basically what you're trying to do is you're trying to increase the bandwidth between CPU and memory , thus increasing the bandwidth during each clock "tick". There is a limit of how far you can push , its limited by the electronics inside your board to settle . (settling time) . Just letting you know that , thats how you are increasing your CPU speed is by increasing the available bandwidth between CPU and memory.

Read up more on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Von_Neumann_architecture that , von neumann architecture , gives you the basic understanding of CPUs and how they work , and the relationship they hold with memory

yes u can, u can even under-clock your ram while overclock your processor.
for example, a normal ddr800 ram allow you to overclock the processor up to 400fsb, an intel core 2 series default fsb would be low-end 133fsb, mid-end 266fsb, high-end 333fsb.

e.g. An e8400 processor would be 333x9 = 3ghz, without overclock the ram, u can overclock the processor to 400x9 = 3ghz

for intel chipset, ur gonna have to downclock ur rams.

but for nvidia chipset motherboards like the n680i...u can unlink the ram and just OC the cpu while the ram remains stock.

Wat do u mean bu downclocking the rams?

Let say i wan to overclock Intel i3 530 to 3.6Ghz,164 blck x 22 multiplier,then i must downclock the ram frequency to 1312Mhz?I hav 2Gb DDR3 1333Mhz Kingston ram

Yes, you can do that.. just play around with the memory ratio (in the BIOS setup) to maintain the RAM frequency around factory specifications and/or below. wink.gif

My example here: user posted image (the actual frequency is 4GHz+ however due to speedstep goes down to 1.8GHz when idle). tongue.gif

AMD black edition is amd proc with unlock multiplier..u can adjust the multiplier without touching the bus speed(the default bus speed is 200) and the ram

in amd...when u increase the bus speed = u oc the ram(unless u underclock it) brows.gif

Like what redzwan said, you can up the multiplier which increases your CPU speed but this kind of overclock is not as noticeable as overclocking the bus speed (which means you got no choice but to oc the ram too unless you use ram dividers)
