Hi West Wing

I read from a blog claimed that harvest helps to increase the numbers of birds and birdnests. My BH has approximately 100 nests now and I am considering to harvest them. But another blogger said it is wise to wait until the number of nests increase to 300 to 400.

Hi WW,

Your comments as follows :

"This is how I do my harvesting irrespective of the quantity of nests but at least a hundred for a start; I check out my Bhs to determine when the new birds going to fledged and then will start harvesting those used nests as the birds fledged and the harvesting may take over a period of a few weeks depending on the quantity of nests and due to the difference time birds fledgling. Each harvest will tell me the time for nest harvest depending on the statue of birds in the BH. This way, I can collect almost all without destroying any living life and also ensure that I get the maximum nests from my Bhs without damaging the increment of the population of birds in the BH. "

The harvesting may take over a period of a few weeks - does the frequent visits frighten your birds?

I am planning to harvest mine since my BH has more than 200 nests after 2 years. Seek your advice if I need to wait a little longer till 400 nests?

Thanks in advance.
