Please help.
My standalone BH just completed Plank installation for about 2 weeks but fungus started to grow. The temperature and humidity of each floor of my BH are as follow : at 3:00PM 29/03/11 1st floor 27.3DegC and 99%rh 2nd floor 27.5DegC and 98%rh 3rd floor near roving area 28.2DegC and 88%rh Data logger data as follow : 1st floor Period from 28/3 20:00 to 29/3 17:00 Temperature 27.5 ~ 28.0DegC Humidity 93.5%rh ~ 95.0%rh 3rd floor near roving area in the nesting room Period from 28/3 08:00 to 29/3 17:00 Temperatue 28.5 ~ 29.5DegC Humidity 81.5%rh ~ 91.0%rh Obviously the fungus is cause by High humidity. How can the humidity builded up so high? I did not use any humidifier in my BH. My BH is a 22X80X3 storey building. Each floor I am having total 32 pcs of 3" ventilation holes. could it be the number of VH not enough? Please enlighten me. |

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Mar 30 2011, 01:36 PM) Not only the high humidity causes fungus grow, the planks that you used is also the reason for fungus grow. My planks are already gone thru KD process.KD (Kild dried) planks are more resistant to fungus then the non KD planks given the same humidity condition. Dard red colour planks are more resistant to fungus then the pale red colour planks given the same humidity condition. They are not low grade plank. I paid RM2600/ton to get them. You may want to quickly do this : I am opening another 4 VH/floor and ventilation fan will be installed to suck air out from the BH.Close all Ventilation holes. Suck air OUT via ventilation holes by installing box fans OR better still if you have made provisions for KDK 8" or 10" ventilation holes (like in most toilets) turns on every morning at 11am and stop at 7pm. As for white spots already on planks, wipe it off with dry sponge (Pls wear mask while doing). For extreme measure, add salt into plain water, dip the sponge in and squeeze to max dry and wipe. ( I believe that yours must be a Agriland BH done by unqualified contractor) and recently with such heavy rain, habis, habis!!!! It wasn't heavy rain since after CNY. I washed the walls and roof and floor slate about a month ago and the floors are already dried up 1 week after washing.Water seep into the wall and flooring slate so you get moist wall and ceiling since you didn't use any humidifiers. Moist plank caused by the slate and fungus will grow. Possibilities are Low grade concrete or bad workmanship...... My suggestion is seal the roof slate concrete with water prevention paint or any products and paint the wall to prevent water from seeping into the BH. Hope Sifus here agree with my opinion? We use standard grade 25 concrete for all the beams and floor slate. I use 1 layer plaster for internal walls (rough) and 3 layers plastering for external walls (fine finishing). A layer of rubber cement already applied to the top of roof slate. This post has been edited by Frank Kerk: Mar 31 2011, 12:28 AM |
