Just wanted to ask other successful REP applicants. I too am a returning expat but my application was rejected because I had filed my income tax return for last year using Form BE. I simply declared Rental income like a good citizen. But on that grounds they disqualified me saying that Form BE is for local residents. And hence it means I'm local and cannot qualify as non-resident. The truth is I used Form BE because I didn't know I was supposed to use a different form as I thought all Malaysian citizens use Form BE for non-business income. So I was actually disqualified on technical grounds.
Anyone with similar experience can please shed some light for the benefit of other future applicants too.
did u stay in Malaysia consecutively with 182 days? if not you cannot use Form BE to declare income tax.Anyone with similar experience can please shed some light for the benefit of other future applicants too.
