I used to overclock it up to 3.0 Ghz stable. But recently i cant overclock it at all. I get 'Overclock recovery failure' Press f1 to continue.

I suspect the cmos battery could be low? My hd5850 is bottlenecked i think with my proc running at a stock 2.4

Thanks in advance!

even at 3.0ghz, e6600 will bottleneck 5850..
last time i run 4850 on e6600 3.0ghz.. bottleneck is there

Bottlenecking will always be there, how serious it is depends wink.gif. Your GPU should run well with that processor wink.gif. Perhaps your overclock is failing because the voltage that's set is not enough hmm.gif.

It could be CPU degradation due to overclocking.

It could also be the motherboard as well. AFAIK, some Foxconn motherboards have problem retaining the CMOS settings after some time (even with a new CMOS battery). Anyway, Check the board for signs of badcaps as well. hmm.gif

You may want to consider a quad core (as the next step). Also if you are on the cheap, try looking at those Pentium Dual Core processors (overclocks easily past 3GHz even on cheapo boards). flex.gif

Very much depends on the voltage used.. icon_rolleyes.gif

My last succesful benchmark was at 3.6 is with 1.480v sweat.gif After tat i think i was running 3.0ghz at 1.3 something. Now running as stock.

Yes ive read alot of ppl having prob with foxconn and many cases of dead MARS as well. I have to try new CMOS and check for bad caps first. MARS have auto OC setting where i can OC 10%, 15% or 20% etc....i cant even do 10%.

Or maybe my mobo and proc has come of age already sweat.gif

The Pentium Dual Core E6300 was benchmarked and it found to perform on par to the Core 2 Duo E7400

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

Most PDC E6300 owners (at other international forums) overclocked it to 4ghz stable.

The main point of this proc is that, it cost RM110 lower than the current lowest line of C2D, E7500.

They're basically the same proc, but the E6300 has 2MB of L2 cache compared to the E7400's 3MB..
