Hahaha. Thanks for the welcome CK.

I do have a companion for the TAG. Its a Casio Protrek. I bought it when I had to send the TAG for servicing. Cost me a bomb!!!!! The servicing that is. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Like how much? And what they did/replaced?
*
Overhaul the watch. Replace crown, bezel spring and the three hands. Total damage to my wallet >RM1100. shocking.gif How much do you think my watch is worth?

It is a quartz, wonder what to overhaul  rclxub.gif Dial not replaced?
I think you watch is only worth RM1k.

No lah. Its an automatic.

What is the difference in value between auto and quartz?

The dial was not replaced. It is still the original. I take good care of my watch tongue.gif For its age I think it is in pretty good condition.

oops my bad  blush.gif
normally auto will fetch more than quartz.
they should have change the dial as well coz the old dial doesn't glow anymore (i presumed).
else it might look weird as only the hands glow.
*
You are right. The dial does not glow in the dark. But since the dial was in good shape (other than the luminence) LVMH did not ask me to change it. Maybe they were aware that their charges were exorbitant.

Aound the same time I also sent my Rolex for servicing. The charges by Rolex were only a couple of hundred more than TAG and pretty fair IMO. On top of that Rolex gave a 2 year warranty whereas LVMH only gave 1 year. So as far as I am concerned, this the last TAG that I am having. One of my children also has a TAG automatic and another is also asking for one. But I am looking at any other Swiss brand EXCEPT TAG.

I was digging out the old receipt for the TAG and the servicing cost was almost the price that I paid for when the watch was new!!!!! shocking.gif

did U change the bezel spring/hands/crown etc on the Rolex?
or its just oiling/cleaning?

1yr now! it was 3mth when I did mine. Things had certainly improved!

kids dig TAG, branded and do get attention from friends!
unfortunately the value still around 1K, quartz much lesser.
my TAG is your generation and I have seen it going for ~500-600 used!

My Rolex is an Oyster Datejust, so the bezel is fixed. The parts changed were the same except for the bezel spring. On top of that, Rolex did a good job of removing the scratches. It was gleaming like new! rclxms.gif

As for the TAG, there was little polishing done. Instead they created scratches on the caseback while opening. I only noticed it while wiping the watch several days ago. vmad.gif

Considering the value of the TAG compared to the Rolex, the servicing cost of TAG Heuer borders on a ripoff! IMO they have been marking up their prices to cover their sponsorship and marketing costs. I read in the net that they are Seiko dressed in different clothes. LOL

Are there other places to service the watch or we must only take it back to LVMH?

RM1100 scares me sad.gif

You are also a TAG owner? I suppose you can also service it outside but I was informed that LVMH is controlling the sale of spare parts. They try to be like Rolex but is still a long way off in terms of quality and service and most of all resale value. Anyway good luck to you. biggrin.gif

like it just get it, no pt getting a watch that U're not going to wear it

+1. Its like buying a car. You may like it but others may not. So why spend money and not wear it?

My gripe is the high servicing cost for a low value product.

In all fairness, TAG builds tough, reliable watches from my experience. At least they used to, don't know about the present models. When I bought mine, they were fairly new in the market here and the price was reasonable, to me at least. But now there are so many alternatives if you want value for money.

As for me it does not make economic sense to maintain the watch. So I will wear it until it is condemned to the recycling bin. tongue.gif

My apologies if I offended any TAG Heuer fans notworthy.gif I used to be one.
