QUOTE(ck77 @ Jul 27 2010, 04:45 PM) oops my bad You are right. The dial does not glow in the dark. But since the dial was in good shape (other than the luminence) LVMH did not ask me to change it. Maybe they were aware that their charges were exorbitant. normally auto will fetch more than quartz. they should have change the dial as well coz the old dial doesn't glow anymore (i presumed). else it might look weird as only the hands glow. Aound the same time I also sent my Rolex for servicing. The charges by Rolex were only a couple of hundred more than TAG and pretty fair IMO. On top of that Rolex gave a 2 year warranty whereas LVMH only gave 1 year. So as far as I am concerned, this the last TAG that I am having. One of my children also has a TAG automatic and another is also asking for one. But I am looking at any other Swiss brand EXCEPT TAG. I was digging out the old receipt for the TAG and the servicing cost was almost the price that I paid for when the watch was new!!!!! |

did U change the bezel spring/hands/crown etc on the Rolex? or its just oiling/cleaning? 1yr now! it was 3mth when I did mine. Things had certainly improved! kids dig TAG, branded and do get attention from friends! unfortunately the value still around 1K, quartz much lesser. my TAG is your generation and I have seen it going for ~500-600 used! Added on July 27, 2010, 8:51 pm My Rolex is an Oyster Datejust, so the bezel is fixed. The parts changed were the same except for the bezel spring. On top of that, Rolex did a good job of removing the scratches. It was gleaming like new! As for the TAG, there was little polishing done. Instead they created scratches on the caseback while opening. I only noticed it while wiping the watch several days ago. Considering the value of the TAG compared to the Rolex, the servicing cost of TAG Heuer borders on a ripoff! IMO they have been marking up their prices to cover their sponsorship and marketing costs. I read in the net that they are Seiko dressed in different clothes. LOL |

QUOTE(silverwave @ Jul 27 2010, 09:47 PM) You are also a TAG owner? I suppose you can also service it outside but I was informed that LVMH is controlling the sale of spare parts. They try to be like Rolex but is still a long way off in terms of quality and service and most of all resale value. Anyway good luck to you. |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Jul 28 2010, 12:28 AM) +1. Its like buying a car. You may like it but others may not. So why spend money and not wear it?My gripe is the high servicing cost for a low value product. In all fairness, TAG builds tough, reliable watches from my experience. At least they used to, don't know about the present models. When I bought mine, they were fairly new in the market here and the price was reasonable, to me at least. But now there are so many alternatives if you want value for money. As for me it does not make economic sense to maintain the watch. So I will wear it until it is condemned to the recycling bin. My apologies if I offended any TAG Heuer fans This post has been edited by johnnytan19: Jul 28 2010, 10:37 AM |
