With RM3k you can easily get a nice Swiss automatic, even a mechanical chronograph if you know where to look.
IMHO paying that kind of money for a quartz is a bit too much, but that's me...

Blue Mako..cool looking watch. You might want to try the Bay, many sellers there based in Singapore. Got my Nighthawk and Black Monster from one of them at a nice price.

Hey guys appreciate some advice in helping me choose my next purchase.

Saw a CW C40 Speedhawk going for around USD500. I have always wanted an automatic chrono, and this model comes with the ETA 7750 which is a real plus point. The Speedhawk is definitely one of the most affordable models with 7750.

On the other hand, I've caught on the Flieger fever and have really grown to admire the design of B-uhrs. The Laco Flieger with Miyota movement strikes me as a perfect balance between having the classic flieger design and an attractive price to go with. This model is selling for ~200 Euro. I am not sure if the 2011 models will have one with Miyota movement and whether the price range will still be the same, so tempted to go for the plunge on this one.

Watch fund is running low and I can only get one for now. Would be great if you could provide comments on which one it should be and why. Thanks!

Does anyone here think that Casio watches (in particular the Edifice series) should be better recognized as a quality watches? They are nicely designed and watch quality is top notch, albeit being quartz.

I own 2 from the series, one is PVD ion-plated, which IMHO has one of the best PVD coatings out there (better than other Japanese brands). Been wearing it regularly for a year and I barely notice any scratches on the watch.

I have a Nighthawk and a Monster as well, both great watches themselves; and I have no doubt that the Casios are able to stand their own against these classics.

Should Casio be included in top Japanese watchmakers in addition to Seiko, Citizen and Orient?

Was on the fence between getting a used ETA 7750 and a Flieger watch (in consideration were Steinhart and Laco). Finally pulled the trigger on the Laco Miyota B when I saw it being made available on the Laco website.

Factors that encouraged the purchase included the history of Laco as well as the entry level cost for a B-uhr, not to mention ck77's review of the watch some time ago. Absolutely love the design and built quality of the watch.

Model AACHEN, Miyota 821A movement, logo on dial. Noticed that the logo says "Laco 1925" (2011 design?) instead of "Laco by Lacher" as I observed in most pictures.

Leather strap is really thick!

IMHO a great watch for those new to Fliegers.

Planning get this, any idea on How to deal with them and when reach malaysia would it be sent by normal post or poslaju? Sorry this my first time trying get watch online.

I purchased from them before, paid using Paypal, I think they accept credit cards too. Package was sent via Royal Mail, registered mail I think.

Good thing about CW is their 60 day return policy. Don't like the watch, just return it for full refund, postal at your cost.

Hi guys, this is the 1st time I wanted to buy my watch....so I need the recommendations from you guys...and below are some of the criteria im looking for:-
1. Budget : RM1400 - RM1700
2. Swiss-Made Preferable, or might give Russian-Made a try
3. Mechanical, not battery-operated
4. The "clock" part preferable to look simple, as in won't have so many "smaller clock" inside...but able to show me day and date[optional]
5. I'm a 19 years old male with thin wrist[as im thin >_<], so won't want smtg tat might too mature for me..
6. Leather Strap, not Metal Strap

And also, please do suggest me where can I get those watch in KL[im a kl ppl] ..

Thanks ^^

You may want to look at pilot watches aka fliegers. A pilot watch with ETA 2824 movement would be well within your budget.
I believe a few of the brands are mentioned in the first post by patryn. Some are German made with Swiss movements, eg Laco, Stowa. Some are Swiss made, eg Christopher Ward (UK designed), Steinhart.

Perhaps write a short review here if you do get a CW..?

People who post "what watch would you recommend" posts here should really consider buying online. As patryn said, many a good deal can be found on the Bay or forums. But as usual, do your homework before making the purchase to minimize risk (eg product description, seller reputation, shipping options etc).

My last 5 watches were purchased online and all were delivered without issues.

Very attractive price for Swiss movement and the finishing looks good in the pictures. Anyone had experience with this brand before - patryn? Their website seems to be available only in German.

Received this a few days back - Orient Racing Automatic CFT00002M

Attached Image

Power reserve indicator, sapphire crystal, display case showing a nicely signed rotor...can't ask for more for the price I paid. However, having second thoughts about owning this as I am eyeing another non-horology related purchase.

Interested buyers? tongue.gif Thing is watch is not in Malaysia at the moment.

something to ask,why laco online store stating price in thousands?for example  "490,00 EUR",is it 490 EUR or 49k EUR whixh sounds  ridiculous?

Added on December 30, 2010, 12:46 amck77,i saw from the watches thread that u have bought laco Pilot Miyota Type B brown,is the original strap that have white lining which comes together with the watch can be exchange for https://shop.laco.de/en/Straps/Pilot-leather-strap.html  ?

anyways how u bought it from the online store?very confuse with the payment and stuff,i don't have any credit cards,am i still able to buy it?
At the risk of repeating what ck77 has already informed you...

The listed price includes VAT, if your shipping address is outside of EU the VAT does not apply, which means you save 19% on listed price.

The new Pilot models (at least the Miyota version which I purchased) come with 2 straps, the standard plus pilot strap. See my short review here:

Make use of the contact section and ask them. IMO the most convenient and safe payment method is Paypal, but you still need a credit card.

Too bad most of the 70% and half price items are out of stock now. If interested in the MK1 pilot watch you'd probably want to take advantage of the 20% discount being offered.

The more I look at pics of the MK1, the more tempted I am to order one. Darn, and I thought the C9 Harrison was just the one I would like next.
